This dude is a bad ass on guitar. They blew up in SF, signed to Sony/Work Group, did well in japan, and the label asked him to tone down the shredding and solos and he refused. The 90s wasn’t a good time for shredders.

Nuno heard their album and asked them to open up for him, Kings X also, amongst others.

Signal chain: squier with JB jr., late 70s jmp, and boss overdrive and octave. I think he gets some pretty cool tone, has some good Marshall grind, and plays 11’s.

Around the 1 minute mark, he just starts riffing and soloing. I think it’s a cool riff. Doesn’t even get to the chorus until 2 and a half minutes in, Sony was like, “dude!! What is this, you don’t even get to the chorus until the 2:30 mark!!!?!?!

I remember hearing about Protein but never actually jammed them; that's pretty rad for sure

Haji's Kitchen is another 90's band no one ever talks about that had an absolute monster on guitar; this whole album is full of mindblowing solos and epic riffs

I’ve never heard of this band. I will have to listen to them.

Weird fact: Haji's Kitchen's original vocalist went missing in the late 90's/early 2000's and as far as I know has still never been found. Really sucks because the guy had a killer voice

His niece had created a Facebook group trying to gather any information on his whereabouts and it was pretty heartbreaking seeing her make posts over and over with no new leads
