Anyone try KT90s or KT120s in their VHT/Fryette amp?

Thinking about trying KT90s or Kt120s in my D60. I have GE6550s in there now, sound nice but wondering if anyone has tried either of those that I mentioned? Reza's post about the Ruby 88s intrigue me, I have EH and Sovtek 88s lying aroung as well. Thanks!

I've never heard either tube, so I don't mean that question as an attack. It's legitimate curiosity.

What I've read so far was that the KT90 is like a beefy EL34, and the 120 stays clean even longer than the 88s, which don't break up much anyway. I'm basically asking the same thing as you lol..just curious. Tubes are an easy and fun Mod lol..

I'm not familiar with those amps but KT120s draw a bit more heater current than KT88s. I haven't tried either tube but from what I've read KT120s are extremely rugged and very clean (which is good for high gain amps). So if the PT can handle the heater current the KT120s sound very interesting.

I know the Fryette/VHT power amps can handle the 120, not sure about the D60 though. I'll send an email to Fryette and see. I have plenty of KT88s and 6550s, just curious about the 120s.

I would be interested in trying them myself. But pretty happy with the KT88. I use them in several of my amps.

Those tubes have more plate dissipation for more watts. Report back if you do try them.

Will do. I ordered a pair of KT90s, gonna wait until I hear back from Fryette on the 120s.
