Yes, borrowed a friend's BS for a week so I could directly compare it to my Grandmeister Deluxe 40. It lives up to it's name BS.  Sorry, but the GMD40 smokes it. It doesn't have the feel or the tone of the GMD40. The noisegate was subpar as well. He ended up returning it. YMMV. :dunno:

Lots of smoke and mirror for an overpriced solid state amp...

Do you still like/love the GMD40? I didn't see it in your recent wall pics?

I ordered a Black Spirit from GC as soon as they came out, but ended up returning it:

Upon first plugging in, I was immediately impressed by the clean and crunch channels. IMO for clean to ACDC crunch and even Jethro Tull and beyond, these two channels just kill it. Very responsive controls, awesome feel, and by adjusting the power scaling, sag, boost, and gain you can get damn near whatever you want, even Sabbath. From chimey cleans to super juicy, thick leads. But I really didn't buy it for these sounds, as I already have them covered with other gear.

Then I switched to channel 3 and it was like a wall of nasally limp dicks. Some extreme EQ settings helped to get the 80's thrash going, but I wasn't sold. Channel 4 goes big and scooped, with tons of low end and gain, but it definitely reminded me of Dimebag's tone and that is not something I'm shooting for.

I actually think this is a nice amp, and will suit many player's needs with convenience and loads of useful features. I was hoping for a 5153 type sound in a smaller footprint, and while it almost gets there, the high gain tones didn't leave me feeling inspired like a tube amp does. But I'd consider buying it for channels 1 and 2 alone.

The cleans are killer and crunch is great. Channels 3 and 4 are awful. Kept it a week and returned it. I’d pay 500 for just the first 2 channels though. The noise gate is useless and effects are eh.

Also curious if you're still digging the Deluxe 40?
