Not true right now.

What they’re doing because of COVID is what they call a ‘no touch signature’ which is basically them doing it. They’re signing ‘CV19’ in the sig box and then typing in someone’s last name.

I see. Seller did show me scan that said "COVID" on the signature. But don't they have to actually give it to someone and verify their name? I guess it's weird that it says signed for by "J.S". No clue who that is. Currently trying to get the GPS location from them so i can go knocking on doors. Local hub wouldn't give it to me and was told to call Fedex hotline.

FWIW everytime I had issues with Fedex (there have been many) I was able to get to the right people to help. Those right people are in Tennessee and if you speak to someone who does not have a southern dialect then you get what you are seeing now.

Yeah, that's what they're SUPPOSED to do.

Problem being that from a driver's standpoint, if you're not home they just have to drag it around all day, then bring it back the NEXT day, when you're sure to be at work again, and that process repeats for 3 days with the driver not being paid for doing it.

Not justifying at ALL, just telling you what happens.

In my case (and this IS allowed) what I would do is go knocking on nearby doors asking if the people there knew you, and if they said yes, asking if they'd be comfortable signing for a package. In 3 years I had one guy tell me no. Then I'd leave a FedEx tag on your door with the address where I left the package. Never a complaint etc, people were happy to get their stuff.

In cases where I was familiar with the person enough to talk to them about signatures (simply because people work and can't always be home) I'd sign for it and leave it in a location specified by the home owner.

My worry here is that #1 they took it to the wrong address and #2 that they more than likely signed for it themselves. That means no proof of delivery, regardless of what FedEx says...if it was correct, you'd have your guitar, instead of a Ring video showing NO PACKAGE DELIVERY.

Lot of times what happens for disputes and why they really don't take it seriously is that someone else in the household grabbed the box and didn't tell anyone, and I can guarantee that's what they think happened.

I'd make damn sure they knew you could bring up that footage for the time driver says he/she delivered it and make sure that they know that you could provide it, also make sure they know that it's a $5k guitar and you'd be pursuing legal action if it's not found immediately.

Our new scanners for USPS are so accurate. It lets you know the exact address and what side of the street it was delivered. We just got em bout a month ago. Looks like a cell phone.

I love that accent.

How did you pay for it? Fuck all this monkeying around, it ain't worth it. I'd be getting PayPal or my Credit card company involved. That'll fix their little red wagon. They have no leg to stand on, proving it was delivered, CORRECTLY.

I'd get my 5k back and tell FedEx to go fuck themselves. 5 days would be about my fuck it point.

I would think this is not your problem, but the shippers.
Also, I'm not sure I would threaten with a lawyer at this time, many times that causes them to clam up and not say anything else now that legal could be getting involved. So give it some more time first.
Good luck.

Provided the ring footage so just waiting now. Guess a lot more back and forth until they figure it out.

Paid with Affirm. Not sure what protection that provides but seeing how this pans out with Fedex. Probably doing a lot more than I should be doing as the buyer but it just annoys the shit out of me.

Yeah, seller has put in a claim already. Shitty situation so just have to wait it out. At least I have proof so Fedex can't say I didn't receive it.

I would atleast call Affirm and halt any future payments and explain what's going on. It sounds like a load of horseshit, and I feel for ya, really. If it would have been 5k in one shot, I would have boiled over.

This is kind of out of left field. But when I've had a problem and could not get satisfaction from anyone in Customer Service, I went to LinkedIn to find a boss. I really try to find the right person in the right job. Then I figure out their email address and send them a very polite, professional, but but firm email. This has never failed me. I have had some pretty high ranking folks call me to apologize and assure me they were fixing it. And they did.

Wow. That sucks. I'm not a fan of FedEx. Only time I use them is overnight next day air... and that's a rare instance. Keep calling and complaining and going up the chain. Names, dates, titles. The shipper/store has a bit more pull as they were the customer that paid/contracted FedEx to provide the service. Worse case is the shipper will file a claim and get refunded. Once you've called the seller and FedEx verifies the guitar was delivered somewhere else, you should be refunded either way.

Also keep your eyes on Craigslist, GuitarCenter, or any local music stores. Whoever has it, more than likely doesn't play guitar, and may try to sell it. Also file a police report for stolen property. If nothing else, you have that if it is needed for a claim.

Best of luck.

Found it!! No thanks to FedEx. Person who received it finally came by and said they had it. Some older couple that thought it was for their brother in law. Entirely different address. FedEx is incompetent. Guess I have somewhat good Karma. I notified FedEx already but my wife thinks I should’ve just left it and let them sweat. With everything going on this year I don’t need any additional bad mojo, even if it’s a large shitty corporation on the receiving end. Thanks again all for the advice. Definitely helpful for next time.

Really glad to hear this man! Thanks to good people in the world, great karma on their end.

People bash UPS but I have had good luck for years with them when I am the shipper. A lot of the issues arise from the sender with shitty packing, they do not request a scan at pickup or drop off; they tape over the barcode; they don't remove old labels from the box (that screws up the scanners).
Fedex has lost two guitars. They were found but a lot of agravation.
