Lets not be stupid. That crap pisses me off too. He is asking $2K, he said he would take $1600, I am doing a little bit of HAGGLING (that would be the correct term) but I don't want to get my ass kicked out his front door by pissing him off with a retarded offer.

So a Kahler is a killbuzz for this guitar? I've never played a Kahler before, how does it feel in comparison to a Floyd?

Kahler's aren't as stiff as Floyds, you can depress the strings to blubber with your pinky.

As long as you dont agree on the price ahead of time and show up then change up the offer I fail to see the problem. I tell people on CL all the time I have to see the guitar and I will make them an offer on it but if they are firm on the price I wont waste their time if I think its too high.

I passed on it. He was stuck at 1600 and I wouldn't budge from 1550. Small difference on such a higher dollar guitar, but we were both at our limits. It's a killer guitar and I liked the kahler, but it had some dings and rash. If it was mint I would pay 1750. I was also figuring with 1600, I could get a super clean Jackson Kelly and still have cash to mod it.

Saying "no disrespect" is fucking inane in this situation. Saying what you said is akin to using the "n" word, which I am sure you also do. Just be sure when you are using this term how you like, you don't it front of certain Jewish people that don't fit certain stereo types or you won't be very happy with the outcome.

Listen, you can always ask. The guy that offered me his Custom Shop Rich 7 string, just had it on Ebay for 4k. HE offered it to me for $1500 about 1yr ago. I guarandamntee he would take that now. He just lowered it from 4k to 2300 on ebay and no bites. Maybe your guy is different and would be insulted, maybe not. You can ask, tell him you were basing it on the fact that you were consider other BC Riches and that you are a floyd guy and see what he comes back at you with. Just to clarify, did you offer him the $1600 or was that his number, because if it was his number then GAME ON.

$1600 was his number, so that is why I countered with $1500 to start with and had an extra $50 in my back pocket. I offered the $1550, no bite either, so I walked. I just had a hard time going to $1600 for it, for both of us, that $50 difference might as well been $500. The combination of it being dinged up a little and it also being just plain dirty, made me walk.

I hate to buy yet another USA Jackson kelly, and the CS Mockingbird would really help my collection be more diverse than just adding another Kelly, but it is what it is.

You did the right thing. If it wasn't worth $50 more to you, and you even had to ask here...you didn't want it that much. In other words, you are better off holding the money for now until you find that guitar, you just HAVE to have. You know what they say, ..."...if you doubt, then don't." I think you made the right decision. If it were cheaper, then jumping on it would have been the thing to do.

You are completely right. I still wish it was hanging on my wall right now, but I'm more glad to have my $1600. I did however run across that "have to have" guitar today, Jackson Kelly Pro neck thru. Plays just as well as that BC Rich and only cost me $650.

If it were the m0re vintage l00king type with the 0riginal type Headst0ck with R l0g0 I think y0ur chances 0f getting big bucks w0uld be better. The pr0blem with re selling BC RICH guitars is that they are an aquired taste, My m0ckingbird had a retail price 0f like 5 grand but I had a hard time getting it s0ld and mine was a m0ckingbird supreme in natural with walnut runners n gr0ver imperial tuners, R l0g0 n r0sew00d headst0ck , quad bridge, like th0se in the 70s an early 80s , I eventually s0ld it f0r like 1500 0r 1600 bucks 0n ebay and it was in as new c0nditi0n with all paperw0rk 0hsc etc. I w0uld say u c0uld get ar0und 1500 0n ebay p0ssibly, maybe a little m0re if u find s0me0ne wh0 is in the market f0r 0ne. Their arent like les pauls where every musical genre uses them and p0pularity etc.

You are right, but my interest in that guitar WAS because it had the Beast headstock, a Kahler, ect. I'm not that fond of the Mockingbird's standard headstock in the first place. Ehh.... I'd rather score a custom shop Ignitor down the road anyway. :D

Let's be honest, your interest wasn't because of the Kahler. We had to school you on what a Kahler was, what Kahler was on it and so forth. You could have used it to your advantage, but it most definitely wasn't one of the main reasons why you wanted that guitar

I mown a 97 Mockingbird Archtop Supreme. For me I would say $1800.00 to 2 grand.

Unless you install heavier springs. I have only 1 kahler guitar (charvel mod 4 I think). Installed heavy springs & heavy bar; feels nice.

The classic bigot defense; I mean really, you think people are saying, "I didn't realize he has a friend who is Jewish, and that guy uses it. Carte Blanche to spew"

OP: too bad you let the axe go over $50- when we're talking about $1600, $50 is comparatively insignificant <3%

Regardless that I didn't know anything about Kahlers, I still had wanted one for a while now, well before this guitar had come along. I did work the Kahler angle though, and he told me all about how they are the best thing since sliced bread. I will admit, the bar on it felt VERY smooth.

First, it's a beast headstock, not the widow, and he paid $3300 for it new.
