Celestions are made in China, FWIW.
And here's something I was thinking about the other day. Remember when "Made In Japan" was something we avoided? Well, look at it today - especially in the world of musical instruments and peripherals.
If I may, I see this happening:
Japan is what the US used to be.
China is what Japan used to be.
Korea is what China used to be.
Indonesia is what Korea used to be.
Totally off topic to the CLR context of this thread, but seriously... Japan's taking over! And I don't think China's far behind when it comes to consumer products' quality and consistency. Outfit any factory with the right tools, education, and eye for detail and QC, and it doesn't matter in the presentation and performance of the final product.
Gibson has a hard enough time consistently pumping out one model of quality Les Paul. ESP pumps out 1000s of guitars with a <1% tolerance in QC. Go back to the late 80s and no one was taking Japanese guitars that seriously. Now? Look how many there are.
