It's silly, I know....

But, what the heck!

A: JTM45/100 build, Fender Super Twin Reverb
B: ???
C: Carol-Ann Triptik 2 C channel or ?

I'm going to mess around more to finalize the B and C amps...

Very nice! You got that west coast tone. Can't help you on a 3rd amp, that sound fantastic as is. Great combo Bear!

Diezel VH4 or Hagen? ...or higher gain Marshall or Mesa?

I have a MKIII I will try tomorrow. But I also have a Quickrod that I love.... I've had a VH4 before. While it is a killer amp, I think a Herbert might be more to my liking. But these are large format amps. I'm attempting to build an ABC rig that I might actually be able to use in my local watering holes....

Quickrod was always on my "modded Marshall" list but I went with a Bogner Helios Eclipse...which is not in a large headshell.

given your A and C, something with 500 to 100W and higher gain looked like a good fit, but so many options/flavors down that rabbithole

I have an AB-Y pedal (or two). I need an ABC-YW pedal now.

A little more experimenting today.

I'm leaning in this direction:

A: JTM45/100, Super Twin Reverb
B: my 2204 build
C. Splawn Quickrod

sounds awesome man! Hey did you by chance have a Trainwreck clone at an LA Amp Show years ago?

yup!! pretty sure we met then. The tone of that amp haunts me to this day, just flat out ballsy and punchy with the perfect midrange

It was based on an Express. Fun amps, but very loud for 30 watts....I even experimented with Octal preamp tubes in that type of circuit.

A little more progress:

I haven't settled on the C amp. Today the Quickrod is the choice, but tomorrow it may be the MKIII...

The madness continues....lol...

For my taste, the Splawn won the C channel role. But, the Quickrod was overkill....

I found a Streetrod 1x12 Combo at a very good price loaded with a Neo Creamback which I hated.... Swapped it with a Eminence 1218 and the universe is back in balance.... I'll make a clip tomorrow:

Very cool! When I’ve messed with dual/triple amp rigs it seems certain amps are more compatible with each other. Sometimes two great sounding amps just don’t work when switching between them. Not sure why.

Now you need signs for each amp:
DON’T - WAKE - THE - BEAR

attempting a rig like that for live use is cool as nothing beats a dedicated amp/cab per tone, although the lug factor seems mighty high!

Thats why it is ridiculous....lol....

I have a wedding gig in June for some friends that I may lug everything to.... we will see...

I really agonized over which amp would be the better C amp in this setup. Both amps sound killer. The Mark III is a little more compressed and thicker sounding, but the Splawn is more open and has that stringy plexi feel going on...

So, the Splawn won by a hair...
