Second time seeing them. The first was, I think, in 2017 and I wasn’t terribly impressed. At that time, my oldest daughter was really into In This Moment and MIW was one of the support acts. It was the night I discovered Avatar. Still dig them to this day. Have to get past the clown stuff, but they put on a tight, energetic show (I think we’ve seen them 6 times over the years). Always in smaller venues. Next summer they are touring with Metallica, so they are climbing the ranks.
In any event, this time it was my youngest daughter who wanted to see MIW. FWIW, I’ll go see just about anyone my girls are into with them. Never turn down an opportunity to hang with my kids
And I can influence them to see some bands I really like (We’ve seen Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Maiden, Exodus, etc…)
They headlined Xfinity Mobile Arena…the old Wells Fargo center, so it was a full size concert experience and it was pretty packed. I wasn’t expecting much from MIW, but they put on a pretty entertaining “show”. Big screens, dancers, light show, video, pyro, you name it. And they were very tight and the sound was good. I came away pretty impressed. Turns out they’ve been doing it for 20 years, so they are doing something right.
One thing that I think is good and bad at the same time is that the volume at Metal shows ain’t what it used to be. Good for your hearing (mine is already shot from decades of abuse) , but I miss the thump in my chest.
Still not a band I’m really into, but I would definitely see them again.
Next up is Suicide Silence this month with all three of my girls
