shouldn't a 2.2k box plugged into the same monitors reproduce the sound precisely, with virtually limitless control, regardless of guitar woods or pickups?

i remember the ads prior to the line 6 axsys launch in 96 promising it would model the entire rig perfectly. i requested the literature, bought the POD 1.0, full of hopes and dreams, and well, here we are.....a yamaha dg80, boss gx-700, vox valvetronix, behringer v-amp, fender superchamp xd, and axe ultra later.

the vox and the fender with the tube/model hybrid won out on the feel factor above the rest, but the ultra was far and away the fx everest.

early amp model clips of the II show promise. sounds like a layer of wax/plastic has been removed from the tone.

i still wish fractal could provide a section of amps dialed in by the amp makers, one clean patch, one dirty patch, and even cooler all the effects the ampmaker would personally add to those patches on alternative presets (clean dry/clean wet/dirty dry/dirty wet) from the minds of friedman, carol ann, suhr, egnater, cameron, and some artist presets, and that italo cat!

Axe II has "modeled" as many of the great things, others have busted their ass to design, as they could. Axe III should be 100% original, lets hear something new.

Edit- I've actually heard quite a few clips from Axe 2 that really impressed me , especially in the cleans to low to mid gain stuff. The clips in the Premier Video are not as strong as most others I've heard and don't seem to be changing character a real lot from model to model as on other clips- just being honest here.

Having the MIDI controller transmit wirelessly, maybe through Bluetooth could be cool, although the. It would need to be powered. So that's only replacing one cable with another.

Higher resolution IRs. Axe FX II has 2048, but DAR is working on 10k, and there are other things out there, such as those Nebulas. The cabinet modeling seems to be the weakest link of digital modelers, IMO.

Fractal Audio should put out there own expression pedals with integrated Axe FX features as the MFC-101 has done.

Get a better tuner because bassists and ERG players have complained it can't track bass E and lower very accurately. I wouldn't know from personal experience though.

That drop-in cabinet is gorgeous. What is that?

Just for kicks, they now have "de-merit points" on the FAS site as opposed to outright banning. I have been given a 1 point de-merit since my last and immediately removed post... There's a time this point lasts before being rescinded, another infraction can lead to complete restriction from site for life.

This is why rarely, if ever post there. Scott Peterson is a fucking Nazi when it comes to being the forum police. Almost enough to make me not want an axefx, almost.

Makes me wonder if I want to deal with a company that runs their forum like that. Contrast that with a company like Mesa, who called me back three times (missed me the first two) to return my phone call about my DC-5 from 1994. They wanted to make sure that all my questions were answered, and that I was happy.

Granted, I am stoked to get a unit and bust into it, but I can't subscribe to the Church/Cult following of the product via the FAS Site and its disciples. I just find it really weird.

I saw that post. Cliff came in and said yes he actually finished the unit himself and then gave it to the guy.

Funny cause now the MFC 101 is unavailable and so is the Ultra. I see used ultras still going for 1500-mid 1700s. Just freaking crazy. The used MFC 101 is the same as a new one

We're lucky here since many of us got to preorder here and not deal with the frenzy going on over on the FAS board. I've been lurking and posting over there lately to learn more before my name gets drawn in the Tone Merchants preorder, and it seems like the whole board has a severe case of bi-polar syndrome. One minute everyone is grinding their teeth and complaining, and a couple hours later it's an giant fellatio festival. My god all this anger and drama over something that is suppost to bring you at ease and happy? Seems your hobby is really not about playing since you have so much cool gear, it is the collecting part I think you need to re-evaluate.

Aw dude, you don't have to sugar coat shit with me... I agree, I've been too involved wth the FAS thang, but it's a morbid curiosity and intrigue now, more so than any hate on. I'm cool with it, it is what it is, and it'll be what'll be.

As for hobby, trust me, I'm stuck with my laptop, a songwriting book, and my job right now - so this (RT) is an outlet. I'll be back in my hood with my guitars and tools in the next week. So apologies if I'm hanging around (in your opinion) these parts too much, this is my only reprieve and place of sanity.
