Hey gents..so my power amp finally arrived and I can put the rack together...um..but Im so confused on how to hook this up...I got the Carvin DCM 150..how do I run this at 150watts at 8ohm bridged? Do I just push the bridge button?

Do I need an XLR to go from the Carvin to the AXe FX? or can I use standard 1/4'?

Where do I plug what in?  Im assuming I go from the power amp to my 4x12...but..how is it bridged do I need extra wire?

I have that same poweramp.

You would go from the Axe Fx Output (1/4" or XLR) into Ch.1 of the Carvin. If you want it bridged, push in the Bridged button, MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF WHEN YOU DO THIS. you would then run the speaker cable to your cab L/R as needed if you were doing stereo.

Lemme try and straighten this out for myself.

For the 8ohm bridged I only need one speaker cable going to my 4x12 right?

Correct....

If you have questions about the operation of the power amp. There should have been a sheet with it, describing the functions of the buttons and setup configurations.

Otherwise do some google work for DCM150 manual....or something like that. I know you can find it online too.

Awesome! Everything is working well...It seems kind of quiet though...should the volume on both channels effect the overall volume? or Just channel 1?

I gotta figure out the overall volume on the Axe FX too..I turned up one patch and it sounded mmuch better and louder.

there is a switch on the back "par" I havent used it a lot, maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that one is for running both sides of the amp off of one input. Not sure if this applies to bridged mode or not....

You didn't say how you're hooking up the output of the DCM150...it can only be bridged at the binding posts. Pushing the button in and then plugging into one of the 1/4 inch speaker outs doesn't do it.

hm...Ok so I have

DCM Speaker 1 going into the cab via speaker cable

DCM input 1 going to axe fx output 1 unbalanced via 1/4"

I get sound...kinda quiet...

am I missing something? Do I literally have to get wire and bridge the two red knobs on the back of the DCM 150?

I'm not sure what you mean by "get a wire and bridge the two red knobs on the back", but if you mean stick a wire between the two, then HECK NO, do not do that. If you want 150 watts mono, your speaker cable must be hooked up to the binding posts (with the bridged button in). The average ordinary speaker cable (with a 1/4 inch jack on both ends) can't do this. It's gotta be a "Y" arrangement of some kind - 2 leads on one side (one of each hooked up to a binding post) feeding the 1/4 plug that goes into the speaker cab on the other.

How quiet is "kinda quiet"? I can get very loud with the same setup (running unbridged, bty the way). The levels from the Axe-FX (which are adjustable on each patch as well as from the front panel) make a big difference.

EH?

You just need a TS (mono 1/4") Y-cable. All male jacks. Plug the two ends from the Y side into output 1 & 2 of the Carvin, then the other end into you cab. Bridged. :)

Then you would need to use both channel volumes on the front of the Carvin and keep them at the same level on both sides.

also thanks for the tip on the cable, Ill be buying one tomorrow!

can I run Stereo into one cab?

If your cab is stereo......get another cab and pan one amp hard left and one hard right and be amazed..

What cab are you using and what does it say on the speaker jack panel on the back of the cab? It will say if it has stereo capability, one good way of knowing without looking is if it has two speaker inputs to begin with. If it's just 1 or, like on my Mesa OS 4x12, 4 but 3 are capped off from Mesa, then it's MONO only.

its a bogner xtc 4x12

and right now its running through an orange 2x12

Hm...well I bought a Y cable..but when I plug it in to both the power amp inputs then into the cab the Protection light goes on and the power amp doesnt work...

Why would you need a Y cable? Your axe fx has a left and right output.....
