Well Hell...

I think I have a to jump on one of these. Which model? Pros and cons? threads to view? fresh input? Please and thanks.

:scared:

lots of topics on this, but in short, If you can, I would say go for the ultra. I think it will have longer lastability as they add more amps and complicated sims, Its always best to buy the faster, more memory when it comes to anything computer, as it will have longer lasting power.

That said, I have a standard, it is still great, though some of the more complicated patches are starting to reach cpu limit earlier then they did, and you are limited to what patches you can download from the axe site as alot of them are ultra compadible only.

Thanks. That is good input.

That is a bunch of threads to view. Have fun. :( :)

I just hung up the phone with him to stop my 4 yr old from crawling up on top of the refrigerator   Jason was sufficiently frothing at that point :hys:

J-Dub, known current owners / Rig Talk members: Ed D., Kage, Ralph, Snider, Steve Henning, Bob Savage (???), McTallica, Jason 8_372_752923942924 aka Yakima Jason...mines incoming.

Yeah the abundance of threads is cumbersome. i would really like to get the boiled down updated summary.

I got rid of mine, but makes more sense to get the Ultra if you are even questioning it. Always better to have more than you need than need more and not have it. Buy used and if you don't like it you could sell it and break even.

ULTRAAAAA

+1

for the extra 5 bills...you won't ever have remorse over not buying the Ultra.

I have spent way to much money on gear to let 500 stand in the way of the higher end model.

IMHO of course.

From the greatest used gear buy I have ever read to this???????

OH fuck bro!!

YOu see that new river monster show on animal planet? Dude is on the banks fishing and something blows the dude off his feet and drags him in the water

Wet lines and fair seas bro

So how many U2 patches are out there anyways?

Not too hip on their new cd but fuck the edge's tone on Magnificent is face punching.

Hey Scottt,

Ya mean the 20.00 Ramirez 1A?

Missed that show. sounds rad!!

Winter steelhead was good. How's things over there?

Back on topic. someone tell me how lame and artificial these sound. Save me the expense..

It depends on what you're going to use it for and how much fx you use. If you are a meat and potatoes guy (basic fx) then I'd go standard. If you want to use all the crazy fx, never worry about overhead, etc - then go Ultra.

I have patches with an amp sim, boost pedal and wah in front, phaser, intelligent harmonizer, flanger, chorus, delay, reverb and cab emulator on mine that don't max out. However, I don't do two amps at once or stereo high quality cabs either.

Oh yeah, the two amps at once thing...sounds mental

You can come check out how lame and artifical it is end of next week

Has anyone bumped this up against the POD rack unit?

Hearing it with the Fractal guys I thought it sounded like crap. Hearing it through Mctallica's rig, I was flat out impressed. I have gas for one, but I am keeping it a secret. Shhhh.

:D

Dude, I just tried it out through a Dynaudio BM5a and am EXTREMELY impressed. So much, in fact that I am getting a second and will be using my Axes (I now have 2 Standards  ) through the monitors as my main rig at home.

I am, however, keeping one Simul Satellite and at least one cab for when I want volume to knock down buildings

TO answer the OP question: the Standard is PLENTY for me, but I am not much of an effects guy. If you want to run lots of effects, I suggest teh Ultra. It is my understanding that both will always have the same amp sims.
