I was really impressed with the Atomic AmpliFIRE 12 at the LA Amp Show.
http://atomicamps.com/amplifire-12/
$799 and it sounded amazing. Super light weight and completely programable
foot switching.
The guys over at Ultimate-Guitar are really impressed with this unit. Worth a look. They are saying it will do everything except that Fender bell/chime.

May need to wait until some clips and info surfaces. The price is really great, just can't find any clips anywhere.

Just a heads up that the AmpliFIRE 12 uses the same brain as the standard AmpliFIRE. It just has more control, outputs, switches, etc. The Friedman BE and Mark IV were amazing. Great high gain tones.

It's the same exact tones, fx, processors, etc as the 3 button amplifire. I have clips of that on my site. They added more switches to the new version.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I'm going with the AX8.

There was a powered rack Kemper for $1,500. I get my $ next week and was going to probably
Snag it up but now it's sold.

Maybe it's fate? I'd end up spending more money on the Kemper between the special FS and paid profiles. While it may be more accurate, I know I'll get good sounds from Fractal so for now the AX8 is the winner.

I would've choose the powered Kemper at that price because it's a steal and I could still use my cab if I wanted to without having to buy a power amp.

AX8 and Alto monitor coming soon.

A powered Kemper for $1500 is an absolute STEAL. They're usually $1900-2000.

Yeah, that is why I wanted the Kemper and probably would have got it. Just wanted to see what some other people thought about it now that Fractal has the new software.

I could get a used Kemper UN powered for like $1,500 - $1,600 but then I have to buy the Footswitch and pay for good profiles and idk. It may match these amps much better than the AX8 and it does sound killer on the clips I hear.

I think the AX8 will do just fine for less money brand new vs used and it is a light/portable floor unit.

From the videos I've heard the Kemper wins

Yep, same here. Regarding matching the amp.

But I also have to think, why did they not use more treble on the AXE FX during the comparison for example? So many variables.

I heard the AXE live so I am content. Maybe the Kemper is better but what i dont know........

I've been wondering the same thing for quite some time now. I have a Kemper Powered Rack and it sounds phenomenal. A lot of free options sound good, but the really GREAT profiles you have to pay for or find someone willing to share/trade (which some folks don't like to do). I imagine it's the same with Axe FX? I'd really like to get them side-by-side, but I can't justify buying an Axe-FX and power amp alongside my Kemper :(

Needs to be another NJ H.O.M.

You're in Basking Ridge now? I moved 2 years ago, I'm in Warren Township now.

I moved to Basking Ridge about 4 years ago. Where's all the other guys? Lot of them dropped off the forums.

Some lurk here from time to time, others I see on Facebook.

I love both but I think I'm realizing what I don't like about either....

FRFR

I'm finding I like the sound of a real cab and power amp as compared to my CLR. I've been fighting it for a few weeks now and trying to figure out what I want to do. Both units are amazing and will make most happy just from their tone....it's what the tone comes through that is fighting me right now.

FRFR isn't my choice way to play either, but it's nice to have the option if needed. I'm mostly using my AX8 right now as my entire pedal board. It's works perfect in 4CM setup with my Mark IV.

Are you able to switch between AX8 amp models and the Mark IV preamp or do you just use the effects?

Wired up 4CM with an amp the AX8 is used for effects, so no amp sims or cab sims from from the AX8. But it does everything, wah, tuner, noise gate, drives, EQ, verb, delays, everything. If you plug the AX8 into the return of your amp then the AX8 will use it's amp sims as well. As long as your plugged into a real guitar cab the no cab sims.

Even if the Kemper sounds a little better I'd still go with the AX8 due to it's versatility, and it still sounds great.
