AxeFx Standard and DI recording question

Im thinking about grabbing a used Standard... My purpose for it will be recording and practice use only through monitors. Will I be able to record a DI track for reamping while also recording the Axefx ?... I want to be able to hear the axefx while recording and not the di track basically. I own a DI box already so if I need to use it in conjunction with the Axe thats fine. I apologize if this topic has been covered but I havent found a whole lot of info yet.

yes it's possible

using a mixer or even a vol/pan effect within the axe fx signal chain just pull a separate path that contains no amp/cab etc... to say the fx loop output
for example


i use it like that with one output having a cab simulation if i need to record or go direct to desk and the other is for power amp/cab
