Peavey VTM or Laney AOR and any of the hundreds of pedals for less than a 100 bucks that would do great.
Marshall Valvestate-100 from the 90's (Prong Cleansing tone)
$200-400.
At least make it a challenge. $1500? puh-shaw to your 1500.
...and those choices I would choose over many amps that would get up over a grand.
RE: The Stiletto thread, my Deuce can get awesome metal tones and you can find them for $800. Don't need a pedal with one of those.
3rd channel on a Marshall 6100 Anniversary gets great metal tones. There's 2 on GC Used for $799. You can get used VHT Pitbulls for under 1500, easy.

Dual or Triple Rectifier is a nice complement to a 5150 type amp. They can be had all day for around $1000 in excellent shape.

There is no "different" metal tone because in most cases you will dial the amp in the same way because that is the tone you like. There are variations in high gainers and low gainers but on a recording, you could get a lot of them to sound similar. Given that you are ready have a 5150, I'd say you have what you need just like a JCM800 is a good starting point for rock. I see a lot of your posts and to me they just sound like you are bored and wanna spend some cash.... so in that case, i say Randall Satan or Meathead or Framus Cobra!

Mark III for $800 or so, grab a cab while you're at it for $300 (Marshall 1960a) or $500 (Mesa Recto) and spend the other $200 - $400 on a bunch of pedals...

This is honestly an easy answer....Someone else said it a few posts back :
Peavey 6505+ , Maxon 808, and a good V30 4x12 cabinet.
That is Metal heaven right there. I own amps that cost 3x the price of a 6505+ and I keep mine around because it sounds incredible, will give any amp a run for its money in the metal department. Its actually hard to beat, sent plenty of amps packing for me.
I wouldn't go the Mesa route sorry to say. Yes there are some rectos that sound great but its a roll of the dice , the loop sucks , they arent as tight as the 6505+ and IMO the peavey cuts through in a nice way, you aren't fighting the bass player.
Another option would be the EVH 5153 100watt...I giged that amp for a couple years and got a great live tone out of it. I actually prefer the Peavey a little bit but both amps are killer and in your price range.
You mentioned ENGL, if you want to go that route take it from someone who has owned and tried most of they're amps in a live situation. The Fireball 100 slays for Metal, that amp would also be a good option and what's surprising is Its one of there least expensive models...I even preferred it over the SE and all the versions of the Invader. Its not always about how much an amp costs or how many channels it has ..... Perfect examples of this are the amps I mentioned , great Metal tones at home and in a band situation at reasonable cost.. Sounds like n advertisement hahaha

Stock 5150s sound best to me. I prefer the 6505+ version bone stock the most out of all of them. This amp will sound a bit different than his FJA 5150.
Now back to what I was saying before if you want a different flavor all together I would also recommend the Framus Cobra along with the ENGL Fireball 100.
A couple guys also mentioned the Cobra. I ve owned a few of them over the years and you can get a great Metal sound out of them. Its worth mentioning they are a bit picky with certain pickups and cabinets. It will sound best with medium and lower output pickups , doesn't work great with actives or high output passives...Also will sound best with a greenback loaded cab and its worth mentioning the loop kinda sucks depending on what effects you are using....Do you plan on using any effects ?
