Hey,

This my first real post. I have been a member since Mar 04, 2013 and I am a guitar player. I have played in many all original bands over the past 35 years none real big but I have been rocking for a long time having fun. I mostly just lurk and read all the cool post and enjoy all the clips of like minded guitar folks. I joined in the first place because of my friend that told me about it and I immediately had G.A.S. and bought tons of shit from folks on here.

Friedman BE100, Cameron Modded Sovtek, CCV, Cameron Modded Marshall, Soldano Hotrod 100 and SLO, Bogner Helios, Ubershell and Shiva, Cornford MK50, Mcnaught DJ+, Suhr Modern, Vigier Bfoot, ESP Horizon and various pedal, pickups and Microphones.

Couple weeks ago I did what I think might be my first trade here and wonder now what the etiquette is when you trade amps with someone and they tell you theirs is in mint and condition and working perfectly and when you get it there's a tube rolling around in the head shell and all the power tubes are almost falling out and 2 of them had broken key-ways on their bases and after tubing it back up its cutting in and out loosing volume and one channel is stuck on permanently.

When I first turned on the amp I was blown away by how killer them amp sounded. This could be my new go to amp and after the amp got warmed up I could tell things were not right so I stopped and sent a message to the person I traded with and said hey there is a problem and the amp is not right and what does he want to do. He come back with do you want me to file an insurance claim was the box messed up. I said no the box was fine.

The box the amp came in looked just fine and while it was fairly well packed it was much bigger than it needed to be and you could feel it flopping around a little bit inside and you could hear something rolling around. The head was well wrapped up in plastic and then maybe cardboard and then another layer or 3 of bubble wrap then placed in a big box filled with peanuts and they was some slop so the amp could shift around a little.

I proceeded to trouble shoot a bit and had to re-tension the power tube sockets and put new tubes it and set the bias (one of the chassis crews was only hand tight ) and that seems to have fixed the loosing power issue. A couple days later I had time to fire it up and it did seem right again. That's when I found that the second channel could be heard through the other channels. I sent him another message and he came back with how do I know what you've done to the amp didn’t mess it up.

I told him I either want my money and the my amp back or for him to pay to have this one to be repaired. I think that is fair his amp isn’t as nice as he said it was even if it was when he boxed it. I traded a killer amp and a very good chunk of change for an amp that don’t work right.

Its not my fault this amp didn’t travel well, I didn’t pack it. How do I know the amp worked properly on his end.

Over all he was a cool before I received the amp and even paid for 2 day shipping which was real nice. A few messages went back and forth and he was being kind of helpful trying to help solve the problem. Now He's acting like I wanted my amp back before I even traded him because I asked him what he would expect if he didn't like the amp he traded for before we traded and we agreed that if we didn’t like the others amp that we’d sell it our selves. But I didn’t asked how he’d feel I sent him an amp that didn’t work properly when he got it. I can't sell this amp as mint because its not working perfectly.

I don’t think that he was trying to pass a bad amp off on me but the truth is the amp was not working properly from the get go. I can’t imagine the channel got stuck on in transit. I told him the minute I found out that something was wrong.

A real nice thing that has come out of this so far is I emailed the manufacture of the amp and he emailed back very quickly his direct number to talk to him after hours and gave me some Ideas and told me where I should take the amp locally should it end up needing it. He was very helpful and treated me like I bought amp straight from him. He is a great person and I’m happy I got to meet him on the phone. His support has been killer. Hopefully his idea about what’s wrong is dead on so I get to keep this amp.

My question is what would you guys expect in the same situation?

Has this happened to any of you?

Did it get resolved and how?

To whoever you traded with, I personally know Psul and can assure you that he's a standup guy and wouldn't try any bullshit just for not liking the amp. If he said there's an issue with it then there is...plain and simple.

This x 1000. Pkripper (Paul) happens to be one of my closest friends and he's a straight shooter. If he didn't dig the amp, he'd just flip it instead of trying to weasel out of a trade, like this guy is insinuating. He's got a gear collection to fucking die for and is above such small time nonsense. I've witnessed this amp malfunctioning first hand. I heard the amp lose power and volume the first day Paul got it, and the channel 2 volume continues to control channels 3 and 4. The amp was malfunctioning since Paul took delivery and this guy needs to make it right, plain and simple.

There's not really going to be a great answer here. If it was just an amp purchase, the best thing would be to demand a refund/file a PayPal claim and send the broken amp back once the money is refunded.

But since there was a trade, I don't really know what makes sense. It probably just makes sense for everyone to just swap back to where they started, assuming everyone still trusts the other guy to follow through.

If the damaged happened during shipping, the shipper is the only one that really can pursue the claim AFAIK, and it could be difficult if the packing material looked fine.

Thanks for the replies!

This guy is not responding to my messages he is totally stiffing me so far! He sends me $4000.00+ amp that don't work right and he isn't there anymore!

Hasn't even sent the tubes he said he was going to send.

Good news is that Diezel is providing unbelievable support!!! Peter Diezel is the best!!! One of the nicest people ever. I'm going to have to buy one of his amps new just to because he is so great! I really feel bad that I didn't by it new in the first place.

That sucks about the seller. If he's still fucking you around don't you think it's only right that you call him out to let guys know not to buy from this clown?

Did Peter get you squared away?

Peter is awesome. He'll make sure you can get it sorted. He's really such a nice guy. Builds killer amps too.

he should make it right with you, that is messed up!

Very crappy that the guy has stopped communicating. That doesn't bode well. If the assertion is that the amp worked fine prior, I would think the first logical step would be to get a quote on what it would take to repair the amp and allow the guy to proceed with a shipping claim like he offered. If the shipping claim is denied, then it would make sense for the guy to come through to fund the necessary repairs to the amp.

The right thing to do here is certainly not to just cease communicating.

If he doesn't respond soon and make an attempt at righting this, he will most definitely be outed and hopefully banned. Paul has sent him texts, emails and Rigtalk messages, and still no replies. The guy said that he would sent Paul a set of tubes that still haven't arrived, and he's accusing Paul of making shit up about the amp just to weasel out of the trade, which I can assure RT that is not the case. I've seen the amp malfunction first hand, and Paul is as cool and honest as you can get. He would just flip the amp before such treacherous nonsense....

I bought a Bogner from a guy from Ebay. Guy was super nice. Until I got the amp. He pulled on 4 of the preamps and placed them on the inside between the head shell and transformer. Placed 2 packing peanuts in there as protection. I had pictures of broken glass and he called me a scammer. All I wanted was for him to pay for 4 preamp tubes. even though I filed a complaint with Ebay, nothing happened. He is no longer a Ebay member (at least not under that name). He was a member here at one point. For me, the point was, I was not about to mail the amp back to him for a return of my money. I just felt like this seller was so untrustworthy that I didnt know what he may try to pull next. He continued to say "sell it back to me". That struck me as odd. I wouldnt be selling it back, I would be returning it for my money back.

I no longer buy 2nd hand amps thru the mail.

I enjoyed spending a good part of my Sunday talking to Peter Diezel on the phone with my voltmeter out testing and once done he said to send the amp to Germany so he can get the amp fixed up proper. I can't say enough good things about Peter his unbelievable customer service. Its Sunday and Peter is on the phone with me working and you can tell he enjoyed it with his whole person.

After hanging up with Peter I was putting things away and decided to take a few pictures of the guts and share them with him on Dropbox and Peter calls me back within 5 minutes and says lets look at the amp some more and shows me that the amp was modded and still wants to help me.

Even more evidence that the amp was not right before it was shipped to me. I asked seller if it was modded and he said he didn't know which I believe but who knows.

I think you should out this guy. I would like to know who to avoid doing deals with.

Yea, I tend to agree. Lots of potential Christmas gifts on the boards...and/or tax money purchases.

Hate your deal went bad.

His RT handle is "andiggity" Please use caution if you feel the need to deal with him.

Its been since December 6th since I have heard from him. I have tried to communicated many times asking him to work with me on this issue. I told him what Diezel has said about the amp and I gave him the two options listed earlier that I think are more than fair. I have received several PMs asking to OUT him so everyone can be warned.

Thanks for the posts

andiggity was responsive at first and offered to make a claim. He asked how the package looked and if it seem mishandled. The package didn't look mishandled so I responded that the box looked fine. I didn't say don't make a claim but didn't yes please do as I don't have any experience making shipping claims and how it works.

Sorry to hear about the problem.

The seller should help pay for the repairs. Yeah it sucks, but that's the breaks. Stopping communication makes him look very suspicious.
