Band of 17-20 year olds that I'm filling in for

Jordon, IIRC not too long ago you lamented the end of your last band situation and that finding like-minded musicians in Chicago challenging (this is true of everyplace I've lived FWIW). I say go for it. Clearly you are having fun, sound great, the band offered you the spot (I wouldn't wait, as they may find someone while you consider it!) so they want you in...what do you have to lose? I do think if you don't go for it, you will regret it some day...especially if they make it big. IMO

Hey! I dug what I heard, man. Tone doesn't make or break a song for me. Yea, I've been through the shit, man, and those kids definitely needed someone to come along and weed out the bullshit they were being fed.
Thanks man. That was many moons ago, the performances bother me more than the tone.
Hey, I've been through the shit too. Brian and I were in the process of writing some stuff again when he passed, after some BS with our last band. Now I've pretty much given up finding people worth the effort of playing with. Again, it's awesome that you're helping these kids out. Think about how much further along guys like us would be now if we had, well, guys like us around at that age
I think you sound great with them, and if you're into the tunes, and get along with the guys, who cares if you're old enough to be their "young uncle". I wish I had an "uncle Jordon" to produce me and play in my band when I was that age!  I say you join up and rock the f#$% out with those kids, hell you're already doing it anyway
