Bands you missed completely but would have been into when they came out?

What the hell is going on in this thread. You can keep the cars, I’ll take Cheap Trick and day of the week.

I like em both 🤷‍♂️ I wasn't alive when this shit came out; is there some rivalry I don't know about?

I was just saying that Bun E Carlos playing drums for Tinted Windows makes sense as they all play power pop similar to the cars, CT, Ash, Big Star, etc

Not that I know of. I just found it amazing that anyone can hate cheap trick. The cars I can’t really get into. I’ve tried. Cheap Trick is one of my favourite bands.

Incredible timing. I will check them out. I was literally looking last week for something new in the power pop realm. Been also on an Enuff z’ Nuff trip at the moment. I’m just wanting to listen to good “song writers”. Of the type that take the standard ideas and tweak them.

Yeah that's what is so mind blowingly good about Tinted Windows. I was blown away at how good the songwriting is - especially the Hansen kid's performance vocally. It's seriously good.

I’m a big Enuff Z’Nuff fan too. You might be into the record “Bully” by Sugarbomb. It’s turn of the century, radio friendly Power Pop, but there’s plenty of Queen and Jellyfish influence in there.

I can still remember driving in my Dad’s car at 15 when my 13 year old sister told my Dad that Hanson were going to be the next Beatles. Not quite. But I’ll give this a listen if anything for the fact that it has Bun E Carlos on drums.

She’s never been the brightest. To be fair she probably read it in some tween magazine. But anyone with ears could tell we weren’t seeing g the next Beatles. Not even the next Monkees.

Hard to imagine missing QOTSA but that's what the threads for

that might be my age group - they were quite literally so huge you knew about them even if you didnt listen to rock in my generation
Ya … you shouldn’t listen to music that’s good once it becomes popular . Musician rule 1

No, rule number one is "just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good"

Glad I could clear that up for you

So, I was today years old when I realized that the drummer from Cheap Trick had a band called Tinted Windows with the MmmBop singer, the asian guy from Smashing Pumpkins, and the Stacy's mom bass player - this was years and years ago

I thought this was AI or something when I saw the video but

And I was absolutely gobsmacked at how good it was

I totally would have been into this when it came out, and I quite simply didn't know it existed

Anyone who enjoys power pop like Cheap Trick, the Cars, Ash, etc, definitely give this a listen

This 100% isn't RT music of course, but have you guys completely missed big bands that were right up your alley before?

Sounds like bay city rollers and rick springfield. Morphed. Uggg

I can definitely hear the bay city rollers because it's pop obviously but how the fuck do you figure this has Rick Springfield in it? I'm not even mad, just confused
