The key idea here is these are gear forums..... There is plenty of places on the internet where political & religion are the main topic.
Look at this thread..... Some nonsense about how someone feels they have been wronged on a other forum because they are discussing subjects other than gear...... And some photos of men pretending to be women.

What I'd really love to see in American political discourse is a high level debate like a presidential debate or something where the words left or leftist, right, liberal, conservative, republican or democrat get you an automatic disqualification where you are ushered off the stage and your opponent gets the rest of the time to say or do whatever the hell they want.

Cuba had an Embargo for 60+ years, still they have they don't have children suffering from hunger (ONU) not me, they have one of the highest ratings in medicine control, first aid, they prevent and don't only try to cure (like here, which is a damn business) Heck, last year i had to fly out of the country to be treated by real doctors because they almost killed me by malpractice in NYC , TWICE.

I have lived in 4 countries and been at least to 30.

I like to learn by watching the real world, not just hearsay or TV.

The pharma industry does not want cures... They want treatments only. It has been said that male balding was cured many years ago, but it's being suppressed in favor of finding a treatment. Who really knows?

I pressure cooked a 6lb pork butt this afternoon. Some garlic cloves, Sonny's rub, salt & pepper, liquid smoke, and a bay leaf in one cup of water. I've got a loaf of bread going in my Hitachi Home Bread Machine now.

I've been wearing my Smith & Wesson hat every day for the past couple of weeks. If it makes a few liberal bed-wetters quake from fear... great. When did we gain the right not to be afraid of anyone or anything? I get a kick out of the signs on the walls at my local movie theaters... "no guns or weapons allowed". Oh well... I guess that will stop Mr. Suicidal Mentally Ill Shoot-em-up then! Don't we all just feel SO safe that murderous scum can be stopped with a simple sign on the wall or another law on the books? As for me, I take the safety/security of my family seriously and responsibly prepare to defend myself and them. If you want to take your chances that silly weapons prohibition policies will stop someone set on murdering you... then by all means!

I'm not a fan of modern day liberals and TGP seems to be full of them.

My hyperbolic over-generalizations:

Rig-Talk = working and former pros/semi-pros who are in their early 30s - early 50s, who've grown-up and developed their careers successfully enough to support their boutique gear habit... which tends to lean towards surgically-precise playing and looking axes and multi-channel amps with high-gain options mostly voiced in the hot-rod Marshall vein. JCM800 era tones being indicative of a starting point for "holy grail" tone. Hardly a shit can be found to be given regarding super old school simple amps and guitars (see below), nor is an over-abundance of respect to be found for yuppy players who never paid their dues gigging in the trenches. They like to debate controversial topics and are confident enough in themselves to be able to do so without pants-wetting fear of offending someone or making them uncomfortable.

TGP = doctors and lawyers who never gigged seriously, some of whom may gig with their gray-haired professional buddies now "for fun", and have an even snootier boutique gear habit... which leans towards EXPENSIVE classic designs of Leo Fender in guitars and amps (whether real Fenders or boutique clones). Fender Champ type circuits being the holiest of grails. Players who spent time making a living by gigging (see above) aren't worthy of respect if they can't afford the finer things in gear. They put on the charade of piously avoiding subjects likely to stir spirited debate... all the while dropping condescending remarks that support their own left-leaning view of the universe.

Totally painting with a broad brush here... but those are the general observations and stereotypes that I've witnessed over the past several years. Doesn't mean that I don't visit both places, but I only stroll through the other place periodically like a coach-class ticket-holder walking through the first-class section on his way to his tiny seat. Sure, first-class looks pretty nice... but I'm just not into being that uptight and don't want to fork-out the extra dough for a trip that ends at the same terminal.
