The standard Wolfgang guitars are great bang for the buck. But most people are running hot pickups into distorted amps. They wouldn't know a good tonewood from a hole in the wall anyway. The basswood is suspect IMO , it's of no surprise it's getting love and hate. Didn't Ed build his strat (VH1)out of a body of basswood that was thrown away at a shop? I read that I'm sure as everyone else has. I can't play like Ed or Vai or Holdsworth and tons of others. I can acknowledge how anyone feels when spending good money on a quality build and its made out of the cheapest wood on the market. Nothing grabbed m with any of the basswood guitars I owned, it was quite obvious when switching from a LP or even an Alder guitar to basswood. Alot of that is the preferred tone of the amp and the way I obviously do and don't play. Love the Suhr guitars , the Koa bodied guitar is definitely going to be more resonant than basswood ,No?
I agree . Good pickups do more than the woodWood doesn't matter you retards.

idk about the Wolfgang, but the Axis is one of the best-sounding guitars I've ever played, and they're Basswood/maple/mapleThe standard Wolfgang guitars are great bang for the buck. I would really like to try a USA or MIJ Signature Wolfgang and see if they actually sound good with the basswood/maple top combination.
