Very interesting viewpoint.
The lockdowns, which were unprecedented in recent history, has changed our society significantly. It's only been 5 years. My area has not returned to normal yet, and maybe it never will. That is something that happened in the past, we can see and quantify the results of those actions.
The tariffs you mention "are poised to"
BBB "will potentially"
But neither of those things has happened yet.
So you seem more upset about things that haven't happened yet, than about things that have already happened.
Probably because you had a better than average experience in 2020.
But it does raise the question of why some people are ready to jump off the cliff over things that haven't happened yet?
All i heard is how the world would end because of tariffs. There was supposed to be another forever war because trump bombed Iran. Those haven't happened yet either.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion and we all have different experiences which influence those opinions.
I am careful about my choice of words deliberately. Tariffs are poised to have a disastrous effect but we won't know the full effect of them for a while. Some businesses are hurting now. Particularly the gear space to put a fine point on it. In the coming months we'll find out if there is long lasting damage. I hope not.
BBB does have the potential to blow up the debt but it has not yet been signed into law. It could be stripped of making the 2017 tax cuts permanent but that seems unlikely. And, I find it hard to take people seriously that have spent years complaining about the debt that are now supporting the BBB. It's a bad bill.
I keep saying this over and over: I don't like Trump and I think his policy ideas are bad. But, I also want America to succeed. My worldview is not attached to Trump as a politician or the MAGA movement. I want results and accountability.
