I thought their Charvel bodies are the 80's body..

The Comfort heels are pretty sweet..

I have really been thinking about getting a Musickraft Charvel clone body. Their website is freaking really hard to figure out though  I want an exact copy of the San Dimas I currently have. I plan on getting a single humbucker and I will have a friend shoot a few coats of white nitro. I am sick of looking for a neck pickup.  I Hess I will Dallas them tomorrow. Does anyone know the dimensions of the new Charvels?

Are you planning to swap bodies out? Or just build another copy of yours?

They only do CNC from premade templates, they wont copy your body 1:1 I already asked them personally.

They will make a new template from your body for the CNC machines but you have to order a minimum of 10 bodies and pay for the new CNC program.

To be honest, switch bodies. :D

I am also going back and forth with possibly getting a body that is recessed. I am a lot faster with the strings a bit closer to the body ala strats.

Hmmm... Well you'll need 2 1/4" heel I believe. Which the offer.

May I suggest the swamp ash? It freaking RULES!

Here is my Musickraft I built a few months ago, Northern Hard Ash with quarter sawn maple neck and quarter sawn maple fretboard, SS jumbo frets, bone nut, original Charvel brass bridge, 2 1/4 heal, V to C neck profile. Sounds great. I stained it black they applied tung oil as the final finish. Mhenson42 played it the other day, maybe he will comment....

Really! I was thinking Alder.
Alder is good too. It's nice and warm. The swamp has this great spank to it, yet it's warm. Weighs very little too. I love that guitar! It turned out SOOOO nice. Their necks are terrific too, just an FYI.

Nice. I may just call them tomorrow and order a body.

I talked to Scott I believe. I've emailed him with questions. He was very helpful.

I highly reccommend them. I built the guitar in my Avatar with a Musikraft Northern Hard Ash "franky" body and a hard rock maple non-tilt kramer style hocky stick neck. The fit was perfect and once the guitar was completely assembled I used a tiny thin neck shim to get the action where I like it; as low as possible. That said, I'm confident I can get it just as low without it but I shimmed it out of habit since every other guitar I've had except a wolfang, has needed it. It plays and sounds so well that I sold my les paul and ebmm axis :D

As for the wood choice, go with what you like. I like bright guitars so the ash is great for that...

Uhmmm... You may want to change that neck pocket to 2 - 1/4". Double check your neck heel. I believe San Dimas Chavels are 2 1/4"

I measured mine and it was less than 2 1/4. Musikraft says the standard Charvel is 2 3/16.

Edit: Charvel says it is 2 1/4? I know my way around a tape measure and mine was not 2 1/4. I guess I need to measure it tonight with the neck off. I am kinda pissed off now :gethim: Maybe a little sanding will be in effect.... I would rather have the neck pocket tighter than loose.

I'm almost 100% positive that it's 2 1/4"
Call them or email them. They'll change the order for you.

I will take my guitar apart tonight first. The difference is only 1/16 or 2/32 on either side so I could always sand a tiny bit.... of course I want the correct fit so I will measure for accuracy. I actually called them after the order to make sure they dont drill for the volume pot. I am sure I will really piss them off if I have to call again
You won't piss them off. I emailed Scott like 1000 times with stupid questions and make changes to this that or the other thing... LOL! :D

Measure it, but I'm almost positive its 2 1/4" and you shouldn't have to sand it. Just have them give you the correct neck pocket size.

I measured again and even had my wife confirm that tgr neck is actually slightly smaller than 2 3/8". I am going to take the neck off and measure the pocket next.

I put the new Charvel San Dimas neck on my Musikraft just to test it and there's over-hang

I just took apart the neck and it is 2-1/4. :gethim:

Looks like I need to call tomorrow. Thanks for picking that up.

No problem man...
Don't get rid of your Charvel body. You may want to order a Musikraft neck... ;)
They also rule... :D

I will probably keep the body. I am considering a neck... Oh, I did speak to Scott and changed the neck pocket to 2 1/4". Now I need to figure out a cool color. I was thinking just simple White nitro, but I may consider another color.... robin's egg blue? Shell pink? Sea foam green?
You'll need to play mine at some point. The neck is ridiculous.
White will be nice with the black hardware... Very Chris Oliva! :D Seafoam green is cool too.
Nitro is great by the way. It's a noticeable difference.

I love my Musikraft Charvel Strat body - can't recommend them enough. They and KnE are my new favorite body manufacturers.
