Best 1x12" tube combo for gigging? (A la VH/ ACDC-type OD) ?

EVH50w 1x12?
6505+ 1x12?
bugera?
Marshall DSL40C 1x12?

DSL is great for that, but for AC/DC you need to use the clean channel in crunch mode and then you lose the clean channel. If that's ok then you're in good shape, those amps are cheap and sound good.

If you don't need a loop or channel switching maybe look for a Marshall 4010. It's the 2204 circuit in a 1x12 combo.

No channel switching but I tried a Morgan MVP23 recently that I thought had a great old school Marshall tone to it. With a decent amount of gain I thought.

Do you have a price ceiling?

Mesa Mark series combo w/ GEQ. All those artists would have sounded a lot better with a Boogie.

DSL on the cheap. Friedman Smallbox if you have the money. Splawn comes to mind, good bang for your buck on the used market too.

EVH blue channel with the gain backed off a bit covers a lot of ground. If your gonna channel switch I say the EVH combo. If your only interested in one channel and use the guitars volume knob the PV 6505+ is killer. Just has no clean channel. I used my old PV 5150 for everything. Turned the delay off for AC/DC. Back on for VH. And I rode the volume knob back in those days. No channel switching. Well, I had a Strat and tried to use the Rhythym channel to get cleans. Otherwise all the lead channel.

If you're under 50 years old, Mark V combo. If not, Egnater Rebel 30 1x12.

Buddha SD30 is made for this

I just got a Budda SD18 and I didn't get much of a VH or AC/DC vibe. It's a great amp, but it doesn't really get to the brown sound. The OD channel sounds "rounder" than a Marshall. I'd go with a DSL40C
