Let's say you have to choose one amp. Budget 2500. What amp/cab setup is the best to you?

For me, I'd have to say my Kemper and my traditional 2x12 Egnater cab...It does it all, very well....I don't feel particularly good about choosing digital over tube but if it came down to an all in one solution- Kemper is hard to beat...

You could get a lot of great amps for that kinda coin....New or used.....

Is this a rhetorical question or one you're actually seeking advice on with respect to spending that kinda money??

If I only had $2500CAN?? I'd buy what I bought a month ago - the Bogner Atma Combo - and not blink an eye. Period. Done. Finito. Although new they're more than $2500CAN but I couldn't care less; I love that combo.

If I needed to keep up with a band or the like, I'd opt for a 2x12 Bogner Shiva Combo used, 1x12 combo at worst with portability in mind.

If you needed balls out, I'd opt for a Mesa RA-100 head (used) and 412 cab, easily attainable for well under $2500 and the RA-100 is an incredible amp that gets overlooked at the time. It's got punch and girth, not "tonally" my cup of tea per se, but takes stomps like a champ. Great all around amps.

:dunno:

I've played all the stuff I can find (Soldano, Diezel, Bogner, Engl, Mesa, Friedman, Fractal, Fryette/VHT, etc.), but a Marshall 800 is what does it for me. Clean, crunch, or (with an SD-1), high gain. It just makes the noises I like.

Man, soo many choices.

Used Marshall, JMP/800, a GB cab, pedals and for a loop Fryette power station.
Or
Mesa Mark series/Recto, V30 cab, pedals.
Or
Bogner Shiva, used, GB cab, pedals.
Or
The list goes on.

A Mesa Triple Crown is pretty cool
Great cleans nice crunch. Screaming lead and tight hi gain chunk
Really good reverb

Used Mesa Mark IV and a 2x12 cab of some kind. You'd still have enough for a pedal or two.

Kemper is not a map
I get what you're saying....There is no GPS availability, they need to get on that.... :)

I would obviously disagree as the Kemper functions perfectly well in an "amp's" place....Sure it boots up and looks like something from Star Trek but tone is tone...

Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555x Reissue is a tremendous value. It doesn't even cost as much as a JCM 800, but has a LOT more versatility. Reeves amps has very affordable Hiwatt style amps which sound absolutely incredible, so if you're in the market for one of the best boutique amp values, Reeves is in the top 5. Bogner makes the Shiva, Shiva 20th, Uberschall, and Goldfinger 90 which are all in your price range. There's no argument that Bogner is one of the all-time absolute best. Friedman doesn't really have a great value amp per se which is unfortunate, but the used market is where it's at if you want one of those.

Badcat amps don't get talked about much around here, but they are a staple in the amp world. My God man, the Hot Cat 30 is absolutely incredible, pure Class A bliss. It's versatile, delivers the goods at any volume, and you can rock the hell out of any song with it. They're only around $2200-2400 depending on if you want reverb.

Divided by 13 amps are super great sounding, superior construction, and really aren't too bad price wise. Many of their amps use smaller tube types like 6V6 and EL84s, but they also have several models which use big bottle tubes. They may be relatively simple amps by today's channel-switching standards, but man do they sound good.

The Engl Artist is a HUGE value. Such impressive tone and pretty damned versatile. They offer plenty of value, but if you can get your hands on an Invader II, snag it! Blackstar Series 1 is another incredible value. Though Blackstar prices have inflated too much for Chinese made amps, they somehow still maintain great reliability. The Series 1 100 is a classic by now in it's own right.

I have to give Soldano a mention because the Hod Rod 25, Hot Rod 50 & 100, Lucky 13... are all great values. We're talking legendary tone, and by todays pretentious boutique standards, they aren't that ridiculously priced anymore.

Two-Rock makes several REALLY great amps, including the Sensor which is a closet high-gain monster. It's such a versatile and amazing amp, and you can get incredible deals on them. The Studio Pro is amazing, and with a few pedals, you can do so much with that amp.

Lastly, I'll include a couple of honorable mentions. EVH amps are an amazing value. The 5153 and Stealth won't get you shunned by the gear snobs because you kind of HAVE to respect them. Lastly, the Vox Night Train 50 is an absolutely incredible value. Man it sounds so damned good and you can get one for such a great , great price. It's amazing that they haven't been discussed on this forum because you just can't discuss the best amp values without mentioning the Nigh Train 50.

No shit! Some of the finest... Serious tone-freak material here!!

VTM 60 or 120 matched with a VTM or Butcher 4x12. Under 1k easy.

Best "bang-4-the-buck" amp?

BOSS Katana head.
Roland GA-FC foot switch.
Bugera 412TS cab.

Total: $750 :D

Used DSL50, and 1960A cabinet. Well under $1000. I think bang for buck goes out the window with $2500 budget.

Friedman Runt 50 head. One of the better sounding amps I've heard in a while.

Used JP-2C and a Mesa 212 and I'm good to go.

If i really had to cut it down on price, I'd grab one of the EVH 5153 combo amps. They sound great!
