Best Melodic Death Metal Amp

In the past I owned the Engl Invader 150 as well as the Framus Cobra.
I currently have the New Fireball 100 and it is SMOKING HOT for metal!!
Like it better than the Invader and the Cobra.
Never heard the Powerball before......
Also owned a block letter 5150 and a 6505+.
All the amps sound good.
Just love me my ENGL tone though!
Good luck on the TONE QUEST!

Engl's are great for melodic death metal stuff, but the 5150 is cheaper and sounds amazing. It pretty much is the definitive melodic death metal amp. Just think of a classic melodic death album and there's a 90% chance a 5150 was used to record it.

I still say 5150 and the reason I am saying that is I have owned 5 and always go back to it.

That being said any of the heads mentioned will sound great

Same, only I've owned like 9.

I guess it depends on what your budget is. Considering the amps you listed at the start you feel like you can swing the money for an Engle or VHT/Fryette. That's cool, either one would be great. The 5150/6506 runs about half the price of the others, leaving you some extra coin for other stuff, like maybe a killer cab.

Ok
But what about sybreed´s tone for example I´ve seen that they´ve been using vht pitbull´s and their tone is great,
another hit is the ENGL invader Threat Signal are now using them, Soilwork are also using ENGL now
look at this guy playing some cool videos of the bands listed above he used a peavey 5150 and he is now using an ENGL invader now cause he says that ENGL´s tone is fatter and with more balls...

Threat Signal is using both ;) The mix was pretty f'n crushing when I saw them a few months ago, one of the best raw metal sounds I've heard live...could have been the fact that I was at the front with both cabs blasting in my face though

But yeah, count me in with the 5150 crowd here, after reading the bands you mentioned it was the very first amp that came to mind, and probably easiest on your wallet. If you have the coin, try out a Diezel, they kick @ss and handle low tunings really well if that's what you're going for. Your ears will thank me, your wallet won't :D I am a bit brand biased though, so don't mind me....cheers,

bigrig

Dear god man, why'd you have to post that picture? It's actually worse than that damn Pacino video, dunno how you managed that, but you did- it makes me want to vomit :aww:

Agreed.

Powerball, ENGL Savage, 5150s do it best.

ps: at the gates used a pv supreme with a mt-2 and hm-2 going into the clean channel and sounded great.
