Do you like Decapitated ? I think their guitar sound is awesome and suits your style. EVH 5150 !
Decapitated fucking rule. IMO the best in the DM genre. Vogg is an absolute monster player and his live (and recorded ) tone is crushing. I'm pretty sure he was playing two 5153 50 watters.

As others have said, getting the right cab/speaker combo is huge. You may find that it was the speakers all along. I liked my Mesa with G12 65s, but when I paired it with V30s...its all over.

Truth. My SLO is the pickiest amp ever about speakers. The right combo is magical.

Are you set on a tube amp? An Axe-FX II XL would do what you needed, with either a set of FRFR speakers or a power amp into your Vader cab. Just make sure to turn off the speaker sims if you're using a guitar cab. A Kemper would be good too. With either of those platforms, you can play around with 1000s of amp sounds until you find something that works for you. You mentioned Animals as Leaders, who use Axe-FX for all of their amp sounds AFAIK.

If you'd prefer a traditional tube amp, I'd look at a Fryette Pitbull/Sig:X/Deliverance, EVH 5150 III (each model sounds a bit different), Mark V:25, maybe a Friedman if you're into the modern interpretation of the Marshall sound.

Honestly i am pretty set on a tube amp. I've heard plenty of tones come out of Axe-FX's and Kempers and whatnot, and they all seem to lack just that little bit of an organic, natural feel to them. I know that's an odd thing for me to say considering the tone i'm after, but i still want to have that slightly organic feel.

A lot of people are still saying the 5153's, and the Fryettes... I've got a mate with a 5153, so i'll try that out, and it looks like apart from that a Pittbull/Sig X is gonna be the next amp.

Oh man.... I haven't seen a VHT/Fryette for sale (besides little combo's etc) in over 6 months. Have a look today, and some guy is Selling a Fryette Sig-X not too far from where i live.... haha bloody hell

Any cabs that use them that are a little more.... lets say modern looking than a marshall 1960AX/BX/TV? haha

The EVH 5150III cab has his signature speakers which are actually relabelled UK Greenback's.

Oh cool cool, i didn't know that. Thanks man, i'll see if there are any around :)

Just trying to find out a way how i can pay for this Sig X if i want it haha. Guy wants to trade for my Fireball 60w plus $1500AUD. Seriously considering it haha.

The 100 w 5153 sounds better than the small one in my opinion. The big one has got less fizz and more thickness I would say... the small one has more gain on the blue channel but is has a volume jump between clean and distortion and the clean and the blue channel share the same eq...

Ahh, right.... Another shared EQ head. Was a little irritating on the Fireball but i came to terms with it. If i can sort out a way to get this Sig X i think the 5153 will be out of the question, at least for now. I'll have my hands full trying the Savage and Sig X.... Not to mention trying to get myself from being broke after all these amps haha.

Someone else might need to chime in, but that doesn't sound like a good deal to me. Seems like an awful lot of cash on top of your amp. Also, from what I understand the Pitbull seems like more your style. You gotta play it though and see if you like it. I feel for you man. Hunting down an amp that's "your tone" can be frustrating. Ever since I got my SLO, I haven't lusted after high gain amps at all. Chased my tail for years before that.

Australia is horrible mate. I've had my ENGL Fireball for sale for about 3 weeks over Gumtree (free ad site where you put things up, i imagine kinda like your craigs list? but i don't know much about that either haha) and haven't had so much as a nibble. Only asking $899 (roughly $650US?) and can't seem to sell it. It's a bad time.... In Australia anyway. No one is buying anything. I work in the car industry and it's the same with vehicles. He wants $2500 for the sig x and said he'd give me $1,000 for my fireball. Normally a new sig x for me to get will be nowhere under $4,000-$5,000. Doesn't sound like a fair deal as it's a fair bit of money, but over here, it is haha.

Vogg is crazy for solid state! "Jin jin" guitar sounds on that Pantera trip. Always used both a solid state and a tube amp in his rig as far as I know..

Dude get a 5150 (mark 1) if you can pick one up. They're tits.

I've played one a few times, and have owned (along with my brother whose had about 4 haha) 6505's. Definitely good high gain amps... I'm just chasing something that bit better. And moreso something thats a little more suited to the tone i'm after.

Pretty sure that Engl Savage you got coming in will get you there with ease. :D

I'm sure it will too mate haha :) I just have never seen a Sig X for sale in my state. For the matter nor have i seen a Pittbull UL either. Seen the odd GL or CL, but never a UL and never a Deliverance either. Just got me fan girling a little :)

I had an amp fest a few years ago. Buddy brought his Ultra lead. We did some back and forth trading riffs with one of the amps I owned back then. You would swear they were the same amp. Damn near identical.

The mighty Rivera KR7! Not many of them around though.

Take that back....looks like Sweetwater has them??
I thought they were discontinued?? :dunno:

Yeah the Rivera's are another one i've been considering and looking at :) I nearly bought a K-Tre about a year ago, but decided not to and went for something else.

I believe they made some modifications to the circuit and re-released it.
