Yeah, venturing out into the lead/rhythm guys, I always thought Vito Bratta was a great rhythm player. Lots of inversions, arpeggiated chords, etc...

Funny.....I was just thinking of Vito during this thread. He was also a ONE MAN BAND.....
Great fills....riffs....leads....I love his playing!
I bought my 1st ADA MP-1 because of him.

There are a lot of cool rhythm players, but I put Eddie on top of that. Still to this day nobody writes like he used to. They wasn't necessarily complicated. Certainly not from a theory standpoint. Not particularly technically complicated either. But man, they sure sounded cool.

I guess if I had to simplify it....his rhythm playing transcended convention, but still fun to listen to and makes sense to the ear.

Saw White Lion in Concert back on the PRIDE tour....
he blew me away. the guy was a master of the fretboard.

he blew me away. the guy was a master of the fretboard.
Wonder what the hell he is doing now days?

Following the breakup of White Lion, Bratta produced an album for the band CPR on Atlantic records. Bratta has not been involved in the music industry in any capacity since 1994. He is said to be currently living in his childhood house in Staten Island with his elderly mother.

In 2003, White Lion vocalist Mike Tramp attempted to reunite with Bratta but was unsuccessful. Tramp talked about Bratta in a 2007 interview with Anarchy Music, claiming Bratta was always quiet and distant and the rest of the band "hardly knew his birthday".

Wow.....thats a shame. He was such a fret burner! He was playing the ESP strats.
Great style and was pretty original for that era as well.

If you search the net good enough Vito did a radio Interview he dropped out of music because both of his parents got badly sick and he had to take care of them and support them financially..
Which he said they got screwed with the contract and White Lion didnt make much money from their little bit of success so it put him and Tramp at odd's ontop of Vito suing tramp to prevent him from doing White Lion without the rest of the original members..
He said he would do a White Lion reunion if all of the original guys would do it to..
But he also blocked Tramp from doing it with them...
Along with something about him hurting his hand or hands..

Cool to mention Vito but then again heavily influenced by...EVH. Eddie was a better rhythm player than a lead player imo.
Some of you may argue this but after you got past his flash, tapping, blazing scalar runs and tremolo picking (which is a hellluva lot! lol!!) you have his rhythm which his sense of swing and feel was amazing!!! He's got my vote for rock.

Jazz-contemporary, anyone hear of a guy named Tuck Andress??? He just sick rhythmically. Another would be Don Ross...on the acoustic. There are so many...oh yeah, Malcom is hard to beat too!

I think for rhythm only I would have to go with Malcolm. If it is just awesome rhythm players I am going to go with Hendrix and SRV.

Since some people have stretched it out to awesome riff-miesters I am going to throw in Iommi as well.
