Saw White Lion in Concert back on the PRIDE tour....
he blew me away. the guy was a master of the fretboard.
Wonder what the hell he is doing now days?

Me too, they opened for Ozzy and he was amazing! Also on that tour was Vixen who were pretty damn good too I must say.

Cool to mention Vito but then again heavily influenced by...EVH. Eddie was a better rhythm player than a lead player imo.
I agree with that. It's not a knock to his lead playing...just props to his rhythm playing.

Yup....went to go see Ozzy....but ended up having Vito be the star of the show(at least for me since I was heavy into playing guitar at that time)
Honestly before that never really heard too much from White Lion.
I was hooked!

Scott Ian
Malcom young
Paul stanely
James hetfield
Rudolf Schenker
Robin crosby

Just some of the guys I like

Quite a few I really like, but for me, hands down, it is Hetfield

It was probably said already but, DIME!

Hmmm, honorable mention:
Tom Morello
Adam Jones
Het
Mustaine
Stevie Ray Vaughan
VH
Malcolm
Chris DeGarmo
Claudio Sanchez

Dime had such kick ass riffs on Reinventing Steel...
Too bad that album got overlooked as much as it did.
There are alot of kick ass songs there!
God Damn Electric!!

Geez, I can't believe I forgot about DeGarmo. QR is one of my fave bands an he's just killer. Vito Bratta is perhaps my fave player ever, but I didn't list him because I thought we were looking for rhythm specific guys, rather than one guitar bands.

Yep, I wish he'd rejoin QR but he's off being a charter pilot! Ever since he left, their tunes have been missing something. :dunno:

Tommy Emmanuel, Bireli Lagrene, Sylvain Luc,

Tommy Emmanuel will be playing here next month! Hopefully I'll get to meet him...monster player! I saw Sylvain Luc jam with Dimeola a couple of years ago and it was nuts! He detuned his Godin in the middle of the jam on the fly (I'm talking without stopping playing!!!!) and started playing bass lines on top of triads at the same time! Insane!!! I got to talk to Al and I got the chance to play his Ovation that night. Truly fantastic!

Alex Lifeson
Mike Slamer
Andy Summers
Robin Trower
Dean DeLeo

To the guy who said Tuck Andress, man absolutely! I sat about ten feet from him at a Tuck and Patti show that only a handful of people came out for due to a bad Nor'Easter. He really is a one man band. I think he's the best overall guitarist I've ever seen live.

Hetfield's definitely up there.

Michael Akerfeldt is king in my book though (even though we're not supposed to be counting lead work and vocals). The stuff this guy writes blows my mind, and the fact that he can play it while doing vocals....

Andy Summers is a excellent player......
what makes him so good (to me)
is he is playing these obscure arpeggio's in the back ground and it flows so damn good......
you cant tell he is there.......
he becomes one with the SONG.

Scott Gorham
Ty Tabor
Vivian Campbell
Reb Beach, although he's known for being a lead guitarist, is really a great rthym player.
