I know V1 is important and after looking at the tube chart, V3 seems to be about the gain on channel 2.
What I would like is a tube that may smooth out the gain, stretch the note instead of adding fizz to get sustain.

The Renegade is the first amp that I've ever tried to keep so bad, most of the time I just take 'em back and try something else.

I got a couple mullard I have all my mullards Nos in the renegade..
I also have a couple rft that will help you they smooth it out in v3 and 4 ..
PM me

Mullard tubes are fantastic but price not :-/

From NOS tubes I prefer Tungsram, RFT and Philips.

The JJ ECC83's are great for eliminating fizz......I used them in my Tourmaster, and now use them and RFT's in my Rebel 30.....but don't buy them from Musician's friend...get them from doug's tubes, or Kanos, or Euro tubes...they test them......you want them tested....

try lowering the volume on the od channel, I noticed at lower volume playing, I back the channel volume to match the master volume- example- master at 9 oclock-od volume at 9 o'clock

Also have some of those..In the classifieds
Tungsram are bout the same as mullards

I retubed my Renegade with blackplate Raytheons. Put RFTs in V3-4 until one of the RFTs went bad. Replaced that with an old (pre war) EI. No fizz!
