Hey guys!! Amps are Bogner EL34 20th Ann Shiva and new PWE Event Horiaon 50 watt head.

Love Greenbacks but well in a semi open 212 with GB's are lacking in the lows. They need a very narrow opening or closed back to get that THUMP.....

I really don't think i want to be lugging around a 412 any longer so looking for how to get the closest to the Greenback thing in a 212? Maybe someday I will grab an old Marshall 412 and throw in some GBs but for now.....
I am not a huge fan of the Celestion G12-65s, little too dark and mellow for my amps. Not sure about the Scumbacks since all my other speakers are Celestion and that might make we want to go all Scums! LOL. I tried em before and like em just not sure I need em. I was thinking of maybe the new Celestion Lynchbacks in either a Stone Age 212C or MojoTone Bluesbreaker size 212 cabinet.

I hear some guys say Marshalls do not work in oversized cabs....does that include 212s?

Thoughts? Ideas? :)

Cab manufacturers you'd recommend? Used or new.....

What do you guys think of Mojo cabinets? Stone Age? Stone Age looks great!

Thanks!

I have Scumback M75's (65 watt versions) in my TM2X12 and it sounds great. I would be interested in trying out the Lynchbacks but it reads like they are a modded GB which may or may not work for you.

Maybe put Greenback's in the cab ?

I think the real big difference is the phase relationship is different in a 2x12 compared with a 4x12. I do not like over-sized cabs as much because of the "woof". Celestion's are used in many over-sized cabs.
.... Never heard anyone say " Marshalls do not work in oversized cabs" or even what that might mean ?

The Scums I am still considering, but really happy with Celestions for now.
I consider a standard 412 to be about 29x29x14 and I thikn that works with Greenbacks just fine!
An oversized 212 I consider like the Bogner that is 25x29x12 but sounds great!!!! I also have a very small 212 in my THD cab, 28x18x12.

Stephen, I tried Greenbacks in a 212 before and they farted out! I use 50 watt high gain heads. I am looking for a Greenback flavor with better lows and punch, power, etc. :) Lynchbacks or Scums it will have to be.
I also use semi open backs with 212 cabs and Greens lack low end in that scenario.

Sounds like you just described either the Lynchback or the M75 LHDC that I have also. They have a touch more low end than regular M75's.

I say go for the Lynchback because I haven't heard one yet and would like an opinion.

G12-65s sound too dark and mellow to me...didn't like em much in my 212. I think Greenbacks sound better. I might try the Lynchbacks. I might stear clear of other brands because I will drive myself nuts with all the possibilities plus I am very happy with Celestions these days, especially the V30s in my Bogner with my amps. I thought about trying Splawn Small Blocks since they are like high powered Greenbacks but only if I bought a Splawn. Then I'd be breaking my rule of only Celestions, LOL.

I heard the Lynchbacks are pretty dark ... but have not seen them in the room yet. I also like the H30 .... you might want to try them if you get a chance.

Check out the Splawn Small Block 25's  Great sounding speaker!

I've got Scumback M75's in my OS 2x12 and a 4x12 w/ greenbacks. They're close, but different. Tad more bottom in the M75's and less sizzle at the top end. Could be the difference between 65w vs. 25w. Time to replace my GB's and I'm thinking of going with the Reinhardt R65M-SC which is also based on the greenbacks. Have heard good things about Bob's stuff.
