Down to Earth is probably underrated, but really suffers from having no songs written by Zakk.

Zakk pitched a few songs for it but Ozzy wanted to use the songs already written, so they ended up on 1919 Eternal instead. Bleed For Me was one of them, and I feel Ozzy dropped the ball on that one.
I do like the the Joe stump written songs on down to earth . A lot

That was me, first Ozzy album I ever listened to so picked it to be sentimental more than anything. Always loved Black Sabbath but never knew a single Ozzy song that wasn't Crazy Train before Black Rain came out, which was shortly after I started getting into metal.

Truthfully though there isn't a single Ozzy album I listen to through and through, its really more like 3 songs from each album.
That’s cool af . I like black rain a lot . It’s heavy af and weird . I like all the albums

I prefer Black Label Society to Ozzy and Black Rain was definitely when Zakk start chugging more. Pretty sure I saw an interview where he said he got kicked out of Ozzy because everything he wrote sounded like BLS lol.

NMT for me.

Though I was 12 when Ozzmosis came out and had been playing guitar for a year, it blew my fucking mind. I never heard pick scrapes and pinch harmonics like that, I remember thinking “This sounds wild!” having no clue who Zakk Wylde was. I got that album right about then and it was my first real introduction to Ozzy in the same way Balance was my first real introduction to VH, despite hearing the older songs my entire life previously.

Once I got NMT though, that’s when Zakk went from “Perry Mason sounds cool” to “Zakk’s a big influence”. Love the riffs, tones and layers of guitar on there. Absolutely love his tone on that album so damn much. Someone needs to release the Symphonic preset of the SPX90 in pedal form.

The album I want to hear, though, is the album that was written and demo’d with Vai, before Ozzmosis came out. Vai said he was tuned to C for all of it and it’s the heaviest shit he’s ever done and had a blast with Ozzy writing it, but Epic thought he was too high profile to put next to Ozzy so it’s been sitting in a vault ever since. “My Little Man” is the only thing that made it out of those sessions.
I didnt ever know Vai did anything with Ozzy?

Is there really nothing out there from this mystery demo?

Yeah man No Rest was the last FULL album from Ozzy I liked. Everything else got progressively more “hit or miss” for me.e
I loved all of big time . I’m too big a fan in that way . I like it for what it is . Starting with ozzmosis ( which I love ) each album after the producers were in charge . Ozzy never hired another guitarist he let run the show after zakk . The whole way shit worked changed

Underrated track

Fucking amen.

This is peak Ozzy/Zakk.

The lyrics, the delivery. The mix. The groove. The fucking solo.

Ozzmosis is a blistering album and overlooked by the unwashed chodes. And I'm a die on the Bark at the Moon motherfucker. Ozzmosis is fucking SWAN SONG OZZY and zakk kills all yall.

I love this entire album and think you can make an Ozzmosis EP on Spotify life I did
1.Back on Earth
2.Whole World is Falling Down
3.Walk on Water
4.Aimee
Must listen . And yes all 4 were made during ozzmosis . While world falling down is the shit

Ya it’s weird . Clinical . Zakk lost the ship at this point
Oddly I kinda started drifting from Zakk on No More Tears by the time Ozzmosis hit I was kinda done. I mean listened to it for a bit but moved on. I'll put it on in the car to work this week, see how it hits me now. Anything after Ozzmosis though to me is unlistenable.

I love each album man fr . Black rain reminds me of a good time lol fr

Pretty much that. I love the songs on that album, but just not the biggest fan of Zakk's tone.
I really struggle to put my finger on the tone problems. It sounds processed and synthetic in my mind, but at the same time I hear more raw JCM800 girth and less chorus than I do on the previous two albums. There's some weird fudgery on it, it sounds more scooped and grungey.

I don't think he had switched to the 6550s and EVM speakers yet, that happened around 1998 iirc.

I wish Michael Wagener had been allowed to finish the album. Ozzy agreed. The leaked recordings from those original sessions sound so much better.

Unfortunately there’s not a bit of it out there. Vai’s a pretty sharp businessman and most certainly knows if he let any of that out without getting the OK from Sharon first he’d get sued six ways from Sunday. Over the years as more Vai fans learn about it, the more he’s asked to release it so hopefully he does another box set/rareties release and we get to hear it!

Awesome track but yes on the original cd it was just called S.I.N.....I was in Ozzy tribute mode and was looking to post this track and was surprised to see the title had changed, really too shook up to pay much attention to if it sounded different...."Hero" as it's called now...was also hidden track on the original cd, love that song.... Mike Inez Bass/Inspiration & Musical Direction. This is new for me. I need to start buying albums again.

Mike is a great Bass Player but Musical Direction credits on an Ozzy album, I was not expecting.

wasn't Zakks fault... it was the producer. Zakk has said that when he finished recording and listened to the mixes it was crushing like No More Tears. But when he heard the final master he was like "what the fuck happened??" He said it sounded like a completely different record

He got that "title" because he didn't play a single note on the album, Bob Daisley played all the Bass ... But Mike did come up with the Bass line on No more Tears the song, so that's why he got the title
