What's your point ? I'm sure he does. He seems oddly familiar with the US system for a guy who isn't a citizen.
My point is I agreed with your summation that it wasn't close. His assertion is based on changing the rules of the game. The US electoral system is designed so big cities can't completely skew the results and automatically override the heartland of America.

but as to why non citizens are interested. It's because the US messes with us like Trump is doing now. If it's not influencing our sharemarkets it's like direct war against us in terms of trade.

I mean the prick is about to send 12? letters to various countries bullying them re: tariffs. What a POS.

They only want to change the rules when they lose.

Which even when Trump fucks it up again, they will still lose.

You'll all be paying back debt on your ballooning deficit. It'll exceed the expenditure on your military. Fiscally irresponsible - use the credit card to pay off your credit card type of stupidity.
What if the tariffs end up evening out the defecit? Or at least reducing it somewhat? And all of the USAID waste spending?
We haven't seen the full effects of that yet, it's too soon.

I understand about the electoral college and how the seats are calculated - so people outside the US are capable of understanding your electoral process. He probably does too.
Yes. I do understand it, and it's beside the point I was making, which is that the election was close and far from a blowout. Cheers mate!

Yes, Trump won a much higher portion of the electoral. That's because the electoral vote is a disproptionate representation of the popular vote. That's how you get results where the winning candidate gets more electoral votes while losing the popular vote. And, it's exactly why lots of us feel that the popular vote should be the ultimate determination. That's the true will of the people.
Pure democracy is mob rule. The whole point of electoral votes is that majority, people living in the city, don't get to have all the say. If you believe in catchphrases like equality then it would seem fair that we have a balance between those in the city and those in the country when it comes to politics. Maybe you don't feel that way but I personally think it's a good thing.

How would that even work? Americans are paying the tariffs. How does that balance the budget? I'd love to see a balanced budget and a real plan to reduce the debt. That ain't happening now. We just blew a gigantic hole in the debt yesterday.

Fly fishing ? You should try that. It's pretty fucking cool.
I've done freshwater and I've done saltwater so fly fishing is the final frontier for me. I had a nice Laniglas fly rod that got lost in a move. My old man has a half dozen old Fenwick (IIRC) rods. Not the latest and greatest but he stocked those and Pfleuger reels deep back in the 60's. Has a bunch of Mitchell spinning reels too, which I believe were the first spinning reel. Old school. Guy was a certified fishing nut back in the day. My uncle tied flies and made rods, still does but he's upwards of 90 now.

Dude, c'mon. Those ARE the numbers. Trump won by plurality but also by 1.5% more votes cast for Harris and he did not win the majority of votes. It's not a liberal conspiracy, it's just the facts of the election. Trump won, no one is disputing that.
USA uses the electoral college. This isn't high school popularity contest. Plus the House and the Senate.
And the Supreme Court. It was a big win, whether you agree with or not.

Yeah it was. I'm not saying he didn't win or that Kamala should have won, but it wasnt even 55/45, let alone 90/10%.
Two words: swing states.
We all know that the popular vote doesn't win elections.

We all know that. The point is that the election was close. It's not like 60 voted Trump and 40 Kamala or something. It was 1.5% difference.

Again, no one disputes Trump won. But, your feelings that it was a total blowout are not supported by facts. It was close.
Do you not understand how voting works in the USA? And you're from here? Wow.

I love you, but you seem to be being purposefully dense here.

It's the only kind of fishing I enjoy really. I have taken the old man all over. A few years back we did a road trip to Henry's Fork Idaho to fly fish. It was awesome. He used to tie flies and still has the set up, but I never got into it really. I do have 3 bad ass Sage rods. It also is a damn fine form of meditation.

The only problem with fly fishing is that most "Fly fisherman" are fucking cunts. My old man barely can walk these days and it can be a lot of work to get him to a spot where he can fish. And invariably every time he catches a fish some fucking twit has to sidle up by him and star casting where he was just fishing. Mother fucker if you need a fucking fish that bad just go buy one. Or cheat with an ultralight. I love fly fishing, I hate fly fisherman.

No doubt it was a massive win overall and Republicans swept up. I'm just drilling down on the presidential election itself and what the popular vote tells us about it.

Do you not understand how voting works in the USA? And you're from here? Wow.

I have a pretty good idea. Feel free to correct my errors.

More and more I'm convinced that right wing Americans live in an alternative universe where ignorance is strength, war is peace, etc.
I think it depends on who is in power. In general it seems those whose 'side' is in power are less objective than those who aren't. The same could have been said about democrats while Biden was in office. If you were pro peace you were basically an enemy.
