I havent' had a tube amp for decades so bare with me. Just got my Blueface VH4 about a month ago. The amp sounds as great to me as the day I got it. However, tonight while playing I turned off the lights to see what the glowing tubes looked like in the dark and noticed that only 3 of the 4 power tubes were glowing. The 3rd from the right, facing the amp, is dark. Is it blown? I have no reference as to how it would/should sound...as I said, it sounds like it did from day one. Help  .

Please send me an email to peterdiezel (at) diezelamplification (dot) com

I need:

on the bottom of the tube

In this case we will send You a new tube.

Thanks,
Peter

Quick question... does your tube fault indicator LED's light up on the back by chance?

It don´t lights up when the tube is cold
if the heaters are damaged

Peter, was hoping you'd chime in...thanks for the quick response. I'll get you the info you need as quickly as I can. I've searched the forum for a tube removal procedure, but couldn't find one. I'm sure there is some info somewhere on this site. In the meantime, if you or anyone else, reads this....can you give me some pointers or point me to some documentation. I love this amp and don't want to screw anything up :).

I wasn't necessarily looking back there...but I don't recall seeing any. Not until after I shut down and started searching the forum, did I even realize that there were LED's back there  . I will check though, when I get to the amp to get the info Peter needs.

I was thinking the same thing.

Peter,

So, I take it, the tube that's bad just has no heater? The manual says to leave the amp in standby for at least 40 seconds to pre heat the tubes...otherwise pre mature wear and stress will shorten the life of the tube, etc. I've been doing that. Would there be anything wrong with continuing to play my amp while I wait for the new tube...other than the bad tube may completely fail at some point....due to no heater?

Thanks,
Joe

Just for shits, I moved the cold tube to the fourth socket to see if the problem moved with it...and it did. So, that's good news...means the problem isn't inside the amp and is in fact the tube :).

Got my tube today, installed, and it's as bright and orange as the rest. Problem solved...and fast! Thank you Peter  ! And thank you for the support and answers to my questions via e-mail...I know I can be a pain, just ask Brad  . Pretty cool that you can e-mail back and forth with Peter, the man himself and creator/builder of your Diezel amp :worship: !
