Damn man... You always get the best tones out of your XTC ! Every time I hear your recording of the XTC I hear that crisp articulate tone that normally isn't what I think of with the Bogner stuff in general. Very nice indeed! :2thumbsup:

That sounds great @VESmedic! I was wondering how you got the low end so lean yet still muscular enough to not sound boxy or thin. Do you mind sharing how you EQd the low end?

I didn't know the awesomeness about the SD1 until Rig Talker @PeteLaramee sent me one for free! IIRC I was a little butthurt he sold an item I wanted to someone else (he was not obligated to sell to me) so he sent me an SD1 AND a Pete Laramee CD! How cool is that.

Hey man! When you say how I EQ’d it, do you mean on the amp itself or post amp in the DAW?

For what it’s worth, on the amp itself I had the bass on 10. I find with the xtc boosted it gets nowhere near out of control with the bass up that high.

In the daw, I do some pretty typical EQ regardless of the amp I’m micing up, as I find the problem areas for high gain guitars are all in very similar places often. On this I believe all I did was a 1db cut at about 700hz for some honkyness/boxy ness, and then a low shelf somewhere between about 220-250hz, just one db as well. The low shelf is a great eq move especially on high gain guitars. It reduces low end and low mid mud, but also sounds natural and “not eq’d” because you are cutting across the entire frequency range from 250hz down in a very broad way. I’m a fan of broad cuts or boosts verses notching in general, it just sounds more natural to me always. Notching is sometimes needed though for sure .

After that, Just a high and low pass at 65-70hz and 12k, very typical :)

Psychotron hell yeah! Sounds great! Agree with all the comments about how good that mic sounds. Nice job putting that together. Would love to hear how it sounded just before you boosted. Slightly overdriven already?

Would be better if you used an iphone from a distance in a terrible acoustic space like a lounge room. Yours sounds like great recorded tone from a record - I want it to sound like an amateur on YouTube before I 'judge' it. Extra points if the string noise is quite prominent, and you play Sandman.

Sounds killer!

I’ve got your total amateur video - go to page 1 and listen to my video linked. Shure iPhone condenser mic placed out of the direct beam of the cabinets to get the true room sound. No acoustic treatment in the room.

Signal chain is virtually the same as the OP - BB2 pickup into an SD-1, XTC 101B blue channel, 1960BX cabinet with stock G12Ms.
