Bogner Helios Vid Pt. 2

No offense..... but none of the videos of this amp makes me to want to go out and buy it and I'm a huge Bogner fan. Granted I think clips are the worst way to evaluate how an amp would fit me other than it can give me a good idea on how it records. Don't get me wrong, it sounds pretty good but nothing from these clips make me say "Oh man... gotta have it!"

This is the first Bogner that got my attention....hummmm....might have to jump in

ahem..this video is not new and has already been posted here last week! ;)

That said, it sounds good , really good even, but not earth shattering blow my load amazing.

Hmmm, I didn't like much from that video. The players are great but the tones not so much.

And the last guy said it was new   , dunno, sounds pretty freakin good to me, if the Blue on the XTC sounded like that (please dont bash) I would still have it.

All the clips sound great. For a two channel amp that covers 3 or decades of Marshall cloned tones in one box, and at a decent price point, I would say it is going to be a huge win for Bogner. Quality wise and component selection, Bogner is tough to beat.

Have to agree with this. Looking forward to owning a Helios. Has some cool features and a little more unique than the other "popular" equivalent who charges $1,000 more. Giddy-up!

Bogner seems to be chasing the Friedman wave, I'm sticking with my 100B. The Helios tones are not doing it for me. I'm done tone chasing anyway, another flavor of the month! Not that it sounds bad, just nothing new here.

^ can you taste it? The buffet sure has an enticing smell to it....

One thing that doesn't change is the same type of posts whenever a new amp comes out. You could cut and paste previous posts about other trending amps in the past and they would all read the same.

If you had no amp and were buying, might be a good choice. Pretty generic sounding, IMO

How so?

Cool sounding amp, I dig it...but I'm not hearing anything new or different.

The clip is a turn off for me...

I just got a brand new Marshall JVM 205H (50 watt head) in last week and
love it a whole lot more than either of the current cut and paste "wave riding" amps...

:hys:
:hys:
:hys:

The 50 watt JVM 205H is a bit smoother and balanced over the 210H's I have

I just did a test clip with my new zoom HD video thingy and my new Metal \m/ PRS and it slays...

I have had company in from out of town for the last two weeks was totally buried alive... going to try and get something up this week.

The Helios sounds great from clean to mean, with its own voice. Based on clips, for me it sounds like a mix between a good marshall (raw, with Punch and upper mid bite like a JCM800) + the typical Bogner voicing with the low mids. Its not that very polite, smooth or compressed (mix ready) as the Friedman BE100, and maybe also not that very tight in the lows BUT on the other side it screams and has body to the tone at the same time. Also it has very cool features like footswitchable Loop, lots of mini Switches , Punch switch and Bootom dial on the back. I think the amp delivers in all departments clean, crunch and supersaturated hotrodded tones and is great quality, too. I have one on order, too. :)

I like what the other players do with it in the video, but Rapps makes it sound fantastic. I don't know if it's because the amp suits his style, or if it's because his style, combined with that tone, suits my personal preference. Either way,

I'm still interested in one. Sweetwater has them on order and I'm hoping that they are in stock so I can play with one when I go up there for Gear Fest in June. I know that KG has rolled a couple out the door, so I'll have to see what the pricing looks like if I decide I need one.

Sadly, I don't have a "flavor of the month" amp. Yet... :D

The other guy's looks just like a Marshall with a different logo off to the side (same knobs, gold face-plate etc). Rather than here's my modified Marshall, I just like how Bogner gives a "nod" to Marshall but has a unique face-plate, chicken-head knobs, Depth, and the EQ-out feature. Sure, some could say that's merely aesthetics, but Bogner seems to have an artistic side to his amps that usually stand out from the rest. Plus, I prefer Bogner tones.....and it's less expensive! ;)
