Why all the fuss about wattage - don't you guys use these anymore?

Can't seem to find where I can get one of those...website seems to be down

and as per the 3dB difference, isn't 3dB considered doubly loud? As in, 123dB is 2x louder than 120dB. Maybe my sonic science is askew, but I thought this relationship was fact).

Nope. Twice the Sound Pressure (SPL) is +6dB. Twice as "loud," in terms of subjective perceived volume, is +10dB.

Awesome, thanks for this - I wasn't aiming to be concise on my lexicon of descriptors, but this is/was exactly what I was getting at. So thanks for this - I will enjoy refreshing my memory with this "long reading" (I actually get off on this shit...seriously).

Well holy shiznit Braddah have we got some good times ahead for you!! What do you play? I can only say this - I've had the immense pleasure of playing lots of different amps - lots. All of 'em have had attributes I've adored. Bogner? They're known for their midrange grind, "chewiness", and "sag" in the feel and delivery. They're thick and syrupy sounding, but with good articulation. I love 'em.

As for the Helios, at this time it would seem only speculation, but the amps are more open - yes. More immediate. Hard hitting. Deliberate. And with the few samples gleaned off the YT vids, they sound very uncluttered and punchy. Hard to describe tone - as it's subjectivity being communicated with subjective descritpors. Hard to do.

If you get a chance to pop into a decent music shop and give an XTC a whirl, this will describe what Bogners are known for. An Uberschall is the same, but with way heavier delivery and massive bottom end (metal'esque). TwinJet, tighter, raw, serious.

The Helios? Dare I say...a potential GAME CHANGER!!

I play metal for most of the time.. but am learny on jazz lately just licks which I learned off from the web. not a good player here just stuck in my bedroom with my lovely Fryette 50CL which I like so far, lately been chipping on for the 1 watt Fryette thingy and I have plans to getta CLX in future or UL.. yes but hell I would also like something which is also open like what I have yet with different character I heard the Helios be going for good price and so I guess i'll have to get one with the 50watt...

the difference between 50 and 100 watts is only a few decibels right? why not opt for the 100 watt then...? the 100 watt will feel and sound bigger than the 50 watt and have about the same level of volume...for the most part

Exactly. The main difference to me between 50 and 100 watts is the feel. In Plexish Marshall type amps, I really prefer 50 watts. It's squishy and crunchier than the 100. Both sound great, don't get me wrong, but if prefer 50 watts.

Game Changer? Don't get too far ahead of things here as you have stated they are not even in production yet (and if past bogner history has told us anything it may be a yr or 2 before these things roll out...maybe more lol)

Apparently from a post on another thread...Bogner is only making a certain number of these until the end of the year and that's it for production.

I got an email from Jorg at Bogner and he said that they would stop shipping by the end of the year.
