Had a couple quick minutes to jam upstairs. Here's the two ways I like to boost my uber with less metal passive pickups.
Maxon od808 and the newly acquired Fortin Grind.
I like them both

Yeah it's a iPhone, spur of the moment thing

Both sound mean as hell, but I prefer the OD808. IMO the grind pedal thins amps out too much and adds a nasally quality to them. I love all things Fortin, but not really a fan of that pedal.

I agree with you totally.
I think the 808 sounds better with the uber. The grind though honestly sounds like it was made for my dmoll. I dial that sucker in thick and dark and the grind gives it good balance. The uber has enough highs so With the grind, it does make it a bit more shrill. Cool for some stuff though

Certain guitars I do too. This one sounds cool boosted for the tone I'm going for

You have some really awesome gear. You seemed to ended up with some quality stuff, and have a good ear for tone. Nice.

Sounds badass! For the tone I've described, quite a few have suggested trying an Uber. Haven't found many clips online that I've liked but after hearing this I may have to take people's word for it.

Jesus Christ, that sounded better than most mic'd clips. Definitely preferred whatever the first one was (OD808 ?)

Thanks dude, it's been a marathon for sure. But a fun as hell one

Gotta say both sound VERY good, BUT mic'd up in a band mix the Grind would work better...

This. It took away too much low end and added way too many nasally mids in this video. Most of the Uber/Grind clips I've heard don't sound that great.

I'll stick with my OD808.

THis pedal totally is amp subjective. I haven't hear a lot of uber clips that sounded great either with it.
It would need more eq'ing out of the amp for sure. But just tuned like I play it without boosts, it didn't impress me as much as my od808.
But my Diezel with the grind really is special. It just works with that amp.

The Diezel Dmoll and Herbie have the over-excentuated fake-sounding sub-bass tones which the Grind can cut back on and still sound good... the Uber (TJ & Blue) have a different tone stack and the tone controls work much differently. The Uber's bass is from more old school filtering in the power section and hence doesn't need the extra bass cut.

The OD808 sounded much better in the clip.

Chops less low than TS but doesn't chop highs. Way too strident up top for me and zero adjustability.

Kind of like the Grind here myself, just adds a nasty slicing quality to it that I like. Nothing wrong with either, just different flavors of boosting.
