Electronics can hold thier value just as well as analog gear in some cases. I mean even some synths 20 years old are still oggled on by synth lovers. Technology has far surpassed what was available in thier time, yet they still have something to offer, sound good.. Or modern synths are trying to replicate some of the older synths.

Who cares if the Axe FX is a processor, fact, when used well, it kills, it just does, sounds great. So many options for killer sounds. Even if you are a simplton, just find an amp or 2 that you like, and get your groove on. I think that the Axe fx has to be one of the easiest preamps I have used to get a good recorded sound from (mic and speakers), it just captures well, even, and sounds great. I can't really say that from all of the tube amps I have used.

When keyboards started evolving at a break neck pace in the 80s they would fall in value like Enron stock, 50% loss in one year if you upgraded so I would not use keyboards as an example There may be some analog ones but they are far and few.

For electronics to hold value they have to have some street cred like the 2290, 1210, and H3000s with the Vai presets and also be in every major studio, the axe has not made that yet. We will not know for several years regardless how hard some may fight for either opinion.

Come on, you know in 3 years someone could chime in and say he owns Peterson's old axefx and we would all know about it We are almost talking Fab roadsign level now!!!


Ugh................still waiting for standards to be under $1000 anyways.

Of course i am talking about the good ones, Prophet 5 for instance, heck they just released a prophet 8 replicating alot of the sounds and vibe of a keyboard from the 80's. Good gear is good gear. Axe FX is good, bottom line. Good inputs, great routing. Not to mention, these keyboards that lost value, once you bought it, they did not update the sounds, programming etc. On the AXE fx forum, they seem to update and improve the inner workings almost on a monthly basis. Digital is different now, and with modern connectivity, they can continue to improve that box for awhile. Eventually the standard will run out of juice, but I am sure they will just update the processor. There are many instances of a peice of gear running a VERY long course in the digital world.

Besides the Axe has already been out a few years. I have had mine well over a year, and it is still one of the best investments gear wise i have ever made..

A Good peice of gear is a good peice of gear. Just because something is analog or tube does NOT mean it will sound better or be better. I have played and heard many a peice of junk, brittle, harsh sounding tube amps. Good sound is good sound no matter where it comes from. To assume anything less shows bias.

Who fucking cares what "Scott Peterson" or "Jarrett" does?

Doesn't matter what they do in any way. The point was that they are selling used pieces of gear for $100 less than a new one, that point was made because of the general spew about resale value.

I pretty much don't give a shit what anybody else does - my own decision was made based on actually playing the thing for an extended period of time, actually using it longer than people who have purchased one in some cases.

Other than that, gotta love the lightning rod comedy show thats occured round here due to the Black Box. It either works for you or it doesn't - I just suggest actually playing one before you decide which is which

p.s. - SHAWN, that was my second Ecstasy too - and my single channel Aiken Intruder with an OCD pedal in front of it provides far better results That amp is still here....
