Got my Fortin Bones today...just in time to walk out the door to practice. Unboxed it and slapped the tubes and had about a 10 minute noodle around on it. Its going to practice with me so I can air it out. At first glance, it is reminding me of Channel 3 on the VH4 with the gains and voicing dimed, scooped a bit and treb/presence up. Plugged it in with a front loaded Diezel. The amp is very, very articulate and not compressed at all....and quiet as a church house mouse! Mike wired everything for switching with the Gizmo, but I will wait another day to sort all that. Not taking anything to practice but a few guitars, the Bones and a cab. Let you know more later.

First impressions.........

I bet you cut like a knife through the mix during practice

Will do some clips in a day or two. Just got back from practice and all I can say is the feckin amp is the bomb. The drummer said to give it a thumbs up  as he could her me cutting through with any problem whatsover. The Bones is definitely over the top! I only played it dimed out on everything through my Jim Root Tele and a Bogner cab. So, cannot comment on the cleaner side of things :jerkit: but with 4 gain stages, this SOB rocks.

Glad to see a other good review. I know from post we like a lot of the same type tones. The way you had yours done does have me thinking .... Can you get the same kind (amount) of bass you can get from your Diezel Herbert & VH4, Bogner Uberschall, Dual Rectifier, etc ? Well it get in the Tool Ænima type tones ?

The Bones is a beast. Still reeling from practice. Out to a party tonight, otherwise I would get crunk and play it all night. It is very, very responsive to the master controls (depth and presence) and treble on the preamp side. I like it scooped in the mids and really bright on the high side, with loads of CHUNK. Not too much to ask for eh?

Definitely not Herbert or Uberschall in tone. With the 4th gain stage on, it is like a Channel 3 of VH4 on steroids. Very in your face, even through the Uber Cab. Cuts through the mix like no other. Damn sure not anywhere near a DR (thank goodness). Definitely can dial in Tool and Aenima type tones very well. Played it and Stinkfist today as a matter of fact in practice. Didn't carry any FX with me at all, just guitar, chord and amp. The depth control is really nice too. Lots of dimension and girth.

I want to invest in Mike Fortin Amplification!!! Mike, need some investors????????
