Boogie JP2C (Coming Back)

Dear MESA/Boogie JP-2C Owners,

Feedback from all sources in the musical world is important to us, but none more so than from our own customers. We’ve been watching the feedback regarding the JP-2C from several of the popular forums, and while we are deeply flattered by most of it, it’s come to our attention there is a potential for mismatched Effects Loop levels between the Channels for some players under certain settings conditions, particularly those that use the amp at lower volumes. Consequently we have a voluntary update that addresses this possible discrepancy and creates more balanced Loop levels throughout the Channels when the amp is used for its intended purpose (a Clean sound in Channel 1 and two high gain overdrive sounds in Channels 2 and 3) at these lower playing volumes.

The feedback suggests that for many, the Effects Loop is operating satisfactorily and within the performance parameters needed. Those players may not want to part with their amplifiers for a week or two to receive an update even with the shipping cost covered and the update free of charge. For those of you experiencing difficulties matching levels, we can send a UPS Call Tag, have the amplifier picked up and update it and return it to you within a week (shop time) free of charge. Regardless of which of these categories you might fall into, should you be unable to be without your amp or simply choose to wait until time permits that, rest assured we will be happy to do the same for you or subsequent owners at no charge any time during the 5-Year Transferrable Warranty.

The update addresses the concerns most commonly associated with the feedback we have noted on the forums. These concerns arose in applications where the playing volumes were low and/or a high setting of the MASTER in Channel 1 (as compared to Channels 2 and 3) produced excessive volume in the first repeats using a Delay. The update addresses these concerns and provides a well-matched Effects blend–again–when the amplifier is used for the intended use stated above and the Channels are relatively close volume-wise.

However, since performance of the Effects Loop is greatly affected by the settings of both the preamp (GAIN and Tone Controls) and power amp (MASTER and PRESENCE) in each of the Channels, it is still possible to experience SEND and/or RETURN level differences under certain conditions. Namely those which deviate from the Clean/Gain/Gain Channel dedication noted above and/or extreme GAIN and MASTER differences Channel to Channel. In an amplifier with this much GAIN and output power, as with any hot-rod, an application must be determined and a relative tuning for that application applied to achieve stability for the widest number of “drivers”.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate greatly your willingness to help us address this concern early on and assure the greatest level of satisfaction from your new amplifier.

Sincerely,

MESA/Boogie, Ltd.

Wow. ....now this is class act.
Just shows why my number one has been the recto for years.
Glad to see a big company stand behind the products.
Especially new ones that have a few hiccups that can be a easy fix.

Thank You Mesa Boogie!

Get over yourself douchebag. You had no intention on buying the amp or are a fan of Mesa Boogie at all. Should I quote you on that?

Just cause you live near the Mesa Boogie store doesn't make you Sherlock Holmes. The fact is you WANTED to see this amp fail and it hasn't. Most people who have the amp aren't complaining at all about the Loop. In fact the only one's complaining about it are Superunknown and YOU who doesn't even own it. So LMFAO no apology.

Yes I give you all the credit for confirming that the loop has an issue which nearly no one really cares about anyway and can easily be worked around. If anything you should be the one apologizing to Mesa Boogie for your ball sucking comment

Like I said you are the 1% that finds this a HUGE issue. Can't find anyone else telling Mesa Boogie to suck balls.

Nice job by Mesa stepping up to the plate. I only have on question though. Are there any drawbacks to the mod? The engineer in me would love more details on what the mod entails :)

+1

interested in seeing what effect the mod will have on the amp. So far I have spent 99% of my time on ch. 2 and 3 so its not a big issue for me. But would be nice to fix if it doesn't change anything for these two channels. Especially since I'll be going on vacation soon so shipping it in for a week isn't a big deal

I'm team Reza on this one. His contributions helped to present the issues in a 2.5k investment. That loop issue is enough to make me hesitate and wait to see how things develop. The idea that he can go to Hollywood Mesa and get some more info is a good thing. Boogie lovers are trying to quiet Reza from committing Boogie-Crime; I say we as a forum need to embrace Boogie Truth.

I see myself as a TruthLooper

I do miss the Rhodes modded revG I had....I told my friend about when I sold it, they asked "you didn't like it?"
"No, I loved it". It needed to go due to my condition of acute Flipper Gasititis

Why would I apologize? They released an amp with what i consider a huge issue (John Petrucci signature plate) . They have already posted AND apologized themselves (see above). :)
You have a huge issue because its a Petrucci amp? Or because of the loop? Maybe I'm reading you wrong, but I'll mention again if you have a problem with the amp being a SIG amp, then you must have a problem with the 18 Friedman SIG amps. Or something like that.

Not really. I'm never on these forums, don't know who the hell Reza is other than him being a complete tool in this thread. Sorry if a 2.5k amp is threatening to his precious 4.5k Diezel amps or something along those lines but it's clear from the very first post in this thread that he never had any interest in this amp and was just waiting for the first negative comment to pounce on.

Have to agree. Rez, I like your posts/contributions and don't have anything against you but it does seem like you were biased from the start. Sick of all the JP2C talk before it even arrived.

I was just pissed and vented too hard.
Now his evil plan is announced! Bwahahahaha!

Someone mentioned that Sherlock Holmes is on this board?

Where is he please, does anyone have his contact info?
I'd like to get some inside intel on both this boogie matter and I have a few questions about the evh 5153 50.

Do you ever post without mentioning the 5153 50, bro?
You constantly mention it in threads that have absolutely nothing to do with it…?
Are you OK, dude?

Ok, I will only inquire about the boogie. Scratch the "other amp."
