Am quite pleased with the tones i get out of my JMP-1 preamp connected to a PV 5150 power amp section (Return).
However, going back and forth between the JMP1 and the 5150, JMP1 doesn't have the richness which the head does. i do not find it sterile or thin, i really like the tones, buts not so much smoother than the raw aggression and complexity of the 5150.

Live however, i wanna use the JMP1 only as the midi switching makes it easier to control my whole rig.
Was thinking of a good boost/OD pedal to go into the JMP-1. I'd use less gain on the JMP1 and boost with a pedal to see if i could get a richer lead tone.

Whats ur advice.
Cheers

I didn't use a boost with the JMP-1 back when I had it, but I spoke to a pro Finnish metal guitarist a while back about his rig and he said he uses the Boss SD-1 with it. Actually he said he uses the Boss with basically any amp or pre he uses. Hope that helps.

I have major memory loss from years of substance abuse. Just checked and i had posted a similar topic a while ago.
Found my answers there.

:D

The main thing is you found what you're looking for.

You might want to print out the answers, or tag them somehow and then when you come looking remind yourself to check them first for answers

or wrap a thread on my finger.......
haha, thanks, it did help. I shall look into the Boss Sd1 too.

:hys: yeah the old thread around the finger trick yeeees (Inspector Clouseau's voice).

How about some clips of yer boosted JMP-1?!

I plan on making vids of my rig. I have a friend coming in the next few days, will post soon.

I tried boosting the JMP-1 and it didn't get any richer. My heads sounded better, more natural, so I got rid of it.

When i had mine, i used a TS9 for leads and it was pretty cool.

A trick well..not really a trick but...I use JMP-1's and have found that using both the main outs via a mono Y cable fills it out a bit....seems thicker that way
