so the guy I bought the old SD-1 from wrote me and said just a heads up but these take the older boss asa adapters. apparently they put out about 14v instead of 9v, but it will still work with a battery. Anybody got the skinny on this? I did some searching but didn't really find any info I would consider reliable.

I've run my SD-1 on multiple pedal boards using the regular 9v cables and I've never had any issue at all. In fact....I don't think I've EVER had the Boss power adapter for any of the standard pedals and they always worked fine using 3rd party power cables.

Me also..not any vintage sd1s but I did have a vintage od1 and it worked fine with any old 9v adapter I have around.

It is true, the older SD-1's were to be used with a Boss ACA adapter which is a higher voltage than 9v. On a Pedal Power you can lift one of the minis switches to accommodate the higher voltage. It will sound different using 9v vs the higher voltage. I also have an older Boss GE-7 that requires ACA..the LED won't even light up when used with a 9v adapter...but works fine with a 9v battery.

This technique will get you 12 volts.
