Bought the new Hetfield Pickup Set (EMG) + shootout vs. 81

Got in the new Hetfield Signature pickup set today and thought I'd do a shootout vs. the 81. This is for the Bridge only Done thru my CCV

Clip is a little Mercyful Fate ala Metallica style....

MY REVIEW:
The Het Set is basically a tweaked 81, but for the better IMO. You have a bit more output. Smoother highs. More bass (not too much). More percussive in nature, and just thicker/fuller sounding. IMO a "fixed/perfect 81". If you like EMGs you will love this pickup. If you hate EMGs then try 'em again!!!


Anyone want a 81/60 combo?

What era EMG 81s?

I have seen this comparison before but I want to hear a shootout between the original hardwired cream backed EMG81s vs the Het set.

I know the early cream back or brown back EMGs sound better than the quick connects to clarify this is my opinion and yes I am a Metallica fanboy.

Its a 10-11 year old 81, but its a quick connect.

Will have to check it out later (at work). I love MF riffs!

And also I gotta admit- it was Metallica that got me onto Mercyful Fate. Not just their medley, but when they were taking the piss outta MF & King Diamond between takes while recording Load & ReLoad at 2 o'clock in the morning- I heard that stuff and it cracked me up so much I had to check out the original songs! and damn it's been better since then


I'm still hanging onto my Suhr Aldrichs' though!
