Certain threads make it look like it's a regular occurrence, as does this one, but that's not the case.

Historically these past few years they've occurred in handfuls at a time; banning of individuals only happens every few months or so, often more-seldom.

We have loosened up also. Normally if you get caught with an alt account it was instaban…now that the craziness has subsided drastically we pretty much ignore the petty stuff. I do anyway. It’s the interwebz after all so it’s not that serious…
