So I, along with a lot of others, got in on the BRJ Black Friday guitar sale last November. Great deal on some awesome guitars, no doubt. Very cool of Bernie to make such an offer and for that I am grateful.

I was told I would receive the guitar in 90-120 days. I knew that was never gonna happen even when I placed the order. I thought realistically it would be closer to 6 months. Even now, well past that time frame (double actually), I am ok with the delay. What I am not cool with is the absolute absence of any communication from his end. I have not been hammering him with emails, I have saved every one since I placed my order and can document the little communication I have had exactly as it happened. On average I have emailed him once every couple of months. The last couple emails, which only asked for an ETD, have come completely unanswered.

I think the lack of communication is total bullshit. Please don't tell me "You are getting a great deal so just deal with it, he makes great guitars." That is unacceptable and does not deserve a pass in this matter, IMO.

I saw the NGD that someone posted here a few days ago that was a BF guitar so hopefully they are coming soon. Not sure how or when I will ever know.

You guys know me and I have never posted a thread like this before. I am not a whiner but this is just bumming me out. :aww:

I totally agree, a 30 second update on status as to a biz transaction with a major player like BRJ should be the least of what you would get
Thats BS :gethim: :gethim:

Agreed. No communication gets a lot of these guys in trouble, and gives them a bad name.

I have heard a lot of these complaints and based on that alone I would not even consider BRJ when it's time to purchase. I agree that's BS. Did you ever call? I would get a number and start calling until I got an answer. A certified letter may get you some action too.

There's a long-going thread on Sevenstring.org

PM MTech and have him check for your status

http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/luthie ... ad-32.html

you're not alone, I think only 3-4 guitars have shipped

Mine is in "Ready for final clear finish"

I give it another month or two..

Cool. I lost track of that thread and kept looking for it under Dealer/Group Buys.

I was leary to post anything like this over there as the mods will zap shit like that in a heartbeat.

I want another BRJ in the worst way. I wonder if its possible to make a contract that would guarantee delivery within a specified time, when ordering new.

BRJ's are gorgeous but I do feel bad about people involved on this order. Its a toss between Bernie giving us a good deal and doing a lot of work himself with inexcusable poor business practices.

I also don't like the idea that his bodies and wood work are done by other "ghost" luthiers - hence why you never see a real wood carving/cutting/sanding section in his videos and photos.

If you follow the thread over at SevenString.org, apparently Bernie has talked with a long time customer/friend (MTech) and has admitted shit has gotten WAY out of hand and after he finally finishes the Black Friday guitars, will get grounded and start turning out guitars in 4-6 months like it was in the beginning.

This is some upsetting stuff. I can fully understand how things can "get out of hand" quickly when such a great deal is offered. He should be responding to these emails and should have stated as much when he realized it was too much to handle though.

If these people can use the internet to acquire business, they can at least let the people that are supporting them in on what's up with their investment.

Bernie has long been known for blowing deadlines by huge margins. That is nothing new, even before the BF deal. I just can't stand the complete lack (zero) of communication.

It also really scares me that apparently some guitars are being remade because of twisted necks or faulty body work. I mean, I am glad they are being redone but what happened in the first place?

I contacted MTech on ss.org yesterday and haven't heard anything as of today about my order.

That's too bad Jason. I too hate that kind of business practice. It only leads to bad things in the end. Communications with people who put food on your table is not only expected, it is just the right way to run a business. Anything less is uncalled for and I generally won't tolerate it for very long. Once the communication stops and the excuses start, big trouble is just around the corner.

Steve

Don't bite the hand that feeds ya :( hope you hear something soon!!!!!

Spending that much cabbage on a guitar,i think i'd probably fly out there, not to be a badass but just to let him know
in person he's fuckin up and it aint cool.

+1

also then, they can use the internet and put up a quick facebook page and update those people that ordered...no friending or social shit necessary..hell, even a quick twitter on the shitter would work with most folks.
