has anyone noticed the be and hbe being out of phase? i was in the studio doing a multi amp setup and anytime i switched from be to hbe we had to flip the phase... just wondering about it

Yes there is a extra gain stage. Every gain stage stacked up flips the phase. All amps are like this. It just depends on how many gain stages are in the path.

Thanks. I was just curious about that

Guess you wouldn't really notice this unless you were recording in the studio or had it on a scope?

Or running 2 amp at once.

yeah that too, duh. i have a phase reverse on my RJM Y-not. can't recall if specifically if one was in or out. seems most amps are going to be out of phase more often than not though.

Just to clarify, you were using the same head first in BE mode and then HBE mode on separate tracks ?

i was using 3 amps together. when i switched brown eye channels it was out of phase. not a big deal - just invert the phase.
the engineer and i were curious about it though.... it's a great amp to record with
