Man I've always had my eye on Buddas. I think I would really enjoy it. I'd love a high gain plexi with a loop.

Plexi grind, more gain, a bit more modern feel. Accurate?? thanks!

 I've always wanted to try one out, Joe Bonamassa gets some nice tone with his

Pretty accurate. Slightly more modern feel, not quite as punchy/raunchy. Rounder, clearer, maybe due to the 6L6s? Needs to be almost as loud as a plexi to really, really be at it's best. It was my main amp for 5 years. Sold it because I had a bad Marshall itch. Now that I've got one back (at a wonderfully ridiculous price) I remember why I didn't have any amp GAS for 5 years. And now I can send my Marshall off for a recap and cleanup and not miss it so much.

I've never had a problem with it. I usually run my echoplex in the loop. But then the belt snapped yesterday, so I put my Ibanez echomachine (soundtank pedal) in the loop instead and it works great.

I loved my SD80, and man it was one LOUD beast!! Would love to pick up another some day.

Man you and Thump have both come full circle!

Congrats on getting one back at a good price

That is all.

Congrats man. The SD80 is one of only 2 or 3 pieces of gear I've come to regret selling. Play the Hell out of it man. :)

sorry that I sold mine as well.
The SD80II is one of the best raw tone amps out there.
By the way,you scored that for a damn cheap price(ya rat bastard..lol)

I had an SD18 that killed for gigging - could crank it without having to hotplate it, only issue I had was that it was really hard to get the levels of the clean and lead channels set correctly.

Yeah, I don't run into that problem here at Madison Square Bedroom :D. But I've read about a mod that adds a separate volume control for the lead channel. That might do the trick.

I like that amp. It does one thing and does it well. There are a lot of players who use them around here - probably because they are designed by a local guy even though they are a California company.
