At almost age 50, having a family, a very time demanding job, other hobbies, etc.... let's just say my gigging out days are far behind. Ive sold off most of my amps except for a old modded Marshall JMP, and some of my Mesa stuff. I will be selling off that stuff soon though.

I enjoy the recording process still. I'd like to build a recording DI/IR pedal board using some preamp, modulation, and delay pedals. Right now I'm leading toward the Mooer preamp pedals. I play mostly thrash metal, so I think they will do the job. Any thoughts on what you would use or go about setting it up?

This stuff is all new to me, but I'm excited about the low cost technology that is out there today that you can get some good sounds out of.

Thanks,

Ed

This sounds pretty good to me, even though it is using a power amp and being mic'ed.

Couple of those Mooer pedals, maybe delay and modulation after those into a Two Notes Torpedo Cab or AMT Pangea pedal could work.

The Atomic Amplifire Box will be released soon for $299!
You can load 9 amps from their library and select them from the top
of the pedal. You can load any speaker IR file (a different one for each of the 9 amps).
It even has 5 different kinds of boost pedals inside with a foot switch to access them!
Reverb too! With the editor you can access compressor, gate and EQ functions too.
XLR and 1/4" outputs. Amp/speaker sims can be assigned to either or both outputs.
It's a standard size pedal with 8 knobs, 3 toggle switches and 2 foot switches.
You can also just set it up as a clean amp with a speaker IR and just run all of your pedals
in to it just like you would with a clean amp.
Check it out!

I thought that thing was dead? Was a cool idea but I haven't heard anything about a release date and even on heir own forum they're unresponsive about it...have you heard something recently?

Hey Ed, I've been testing my mooer preamp with the cab sim enabled/direct recording with thrash stuff lately with pretty good results. Do you already have a DAW, an audio interface and some home recording experience? Or do you mean you are going to start from scratch and need advice on an interface, headphones, monitors and DAW etc?

Either way happy to help or answer questions you may have once I figure out where you are starting from.

Thank you. I really appreciate the offer. I do already have a DAW setup. I've always had some sort of a home studio setup since using ADAT's back in the 90's. That's what made me lose interest in playing out.

I do have a question though. What Mooer preamp are you using? EDIT: I just remembered you have the one based on the Hagen

Thanks again,

Ed
