Start with a decent size room.

Then work on the ceiling:

Now we gotta hang the guitars:

Edit to add: space between 2x4s are all filled with Rockwool to sound deaden. A layer of landscape fabric holds insulation in place, then layer of decorative fabric goes over top.

It’s to absorb the vibration mainly.

Started with 2x3 frame.

The top half side:

The pallet looking boards are 1x2s, to allow flex. They are covered by 2lbs per square inch mass loaded vinyl, for cushioning and noise control. That’s covered in 11/33” plywood, again to allow flexibility. Finally carpeted over.

The bottom side half:

Filled in with Rockwool Safe and Sound batts to absorb sound. Then a layer of 1/2” plywood. Then a layer of .79” high density interlocking exercise mats to absorb more vibration from entering house structure below. Finally, bottom layer is a 1/4 PVC exterior siding, effectively turning the entire bottom into a “slider” so it can be moved if needed.

Also added four rope handles per side for moving around space is required when set up, the adjacent wall has bathroom plumbing in it, which I hope to never need access to, but now I can if necessary.

Who want to here all that clanking anyway?
No! That's terrible! One of my favorite things to do at rehearsal is fart right next to the drummer, since he can't walk away mid-song. Now you can't do that without being too obvious, because you would have to stick your ass in the drum enclosure.

Next wall completed.
