Just shows how subjective music is because IMO, he ruined a great tune's soul with that performance.ctoddrun":2w4btk9j said:

I agree; Music is highly subjective. I happen to love his version...sah5150":19hd5ce4 said:Just shows how subjective music is because IMO, he ruined a great tune's soul with that performance.ctoddrun":19hd5ce4 said:

Its all good Mark, we all have preferences and things that we look for when it comes to music. For me, the first couple of Vinnie Moore albums elicit the same response. I dont find any of that with EJ at all personally, I hear and feel so much emotion and humanity oozing out of everything that he does.rockstah":31q1e5c0 said:call me crazy....great player, great tone. i admire and respect what he has achieved he is one of the best... but.. and i'm sticking my neck out here... he kind of bores me. i can only take something that is perfect for some long. i prefer it more human than that. i like it a little rawer...on the edge, about to fall apart... not so above the belt and in ones head, if that makes sense..?... pure inspiration even if their technique isn't perfect... like i said i'm sticking my neck out but it makes for good conversation.

would like to see whats on his pedal board running through the champ.Jimmy R":2hs194qq said:I'm a huge fan of technical players and the best word I can use to describe EJ's clean and violin tone is "ethereal". There was one night when I was actually playing "Cliffs of Dover" note for note, and then I woke up and was crushed with despair when I realized I would never reach that level no matter how much time I invest practicing. Nevertheless, I will still give it my best shot. There are so many songs of his that I listen to and think, "I wish I could play and sound like that". Goddamnit, it takes me like 10 minutes just to get though "East Wes". What's so appealing to me is that he's Rock, Jazz, and Blues in one awesome package.
Here's one of my favorite tracks off of his newest album.
And here's him playing his Strats through his pedalboard and tweed Champ (I bought my reissue because every famous guitarist seems to have one laying around for practice). Whaddya know? He sound like Eric Johnson![]()
