What is boils down to is my style of playing and I come from the 80s school of playing in the vein of Lynch, Rhoads, Sykes, LeTekro to name a few but I do like some of the modern heavy stuff, but I have an Engl Savage for that, if needed. I know the XTC will do some of these tones, but it is not in the vein of the modded Marshall sounds that I enjoyed back in the day.

I would think the CCV will nail these tones for you but I have never played one.

I never heard of the Fortin Cali except some mentions on this site. I was also looking into the Friedman Brown Eye, but yet again not where I could play one and they do not sit around. They are snatched up very quickly!!!

I like how the CCV cleans up nicely with rolling off the guitars volume. I like the tone of the amp, Mark had some good 80's metal tones in that demo....pretty cool amp.

Yeah, sounds great. I checked out your site and you are a huge Randy fan as well. I saw the same show as you on Feb 8, 1982 at Cobo Hall. It will always be a show I will never forget. When I was in LA 2 years ago I went and visited his mom's music store. i actually got to sit down and talk to his brother and met Mrs. Rhoads. Randy will always be my fav and it still pisses me off that his life was taken by a stupid idiot. There has not been a metal guitarist like him since!!! I do not know if you have any of his live boot recordings? If not, let me know. I have a few good ones on Silver CD or lossless.
